my complaint about the drums throughout this album will be the same as my complaint about Matt's live drum sound: the snare is too deep
Did you see the interview with Rick Beato? He likes drummers from the 30s and 40s these days. I do too, but, I kinda miss Jack's snare sound in the band

These drums sound like shit, in case you forgot.
Jokes aside, my ideal is that PJ would record in Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi's studio in Florida.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

There are things to like here but admittedly the ceiling for growth (of enjoyment) is limited.

Actually I’m reminded of Millencolin a bit, with an 80s feel. I don’t have a problem that the bridge is not the chorus. Scarcity of that part makes you want to listen again.

Remember that the original title was Big Sandy Punk. What did you think this would sound like after hearing that from Jeff? Consider this Ed exorcising his punk demons.

It’s better than supersonic, mym by light years, and lukin.

Not as good as big wave, comatose.

Not comparable to never Dest, which is a much more robust composition even though I don’t enjoy it.

Much like No Code, when Pearl Jam intentionally put out a different record than previous offerings in an attempt to quell their success to a manageable level, perhaps Dark Matter and its production is their attempt to quell the doucheness of their fan base to a manageable level.

I didn't see that interview because I just think a Matt Cameron interview is gonna annoy me, but that tracks; 30s and 40s drummers, deep jazz snares

I'm confused. I've been told before not to trust anything lecherouslittlestump says here, and that seems to have extensive basis in reality. Am I supposed to trust that they actually went to this thing?
