Re: Running
Got me running got me running
But the race it never ends got me running or else I’m done in
Got me coming as you’re going
In a chase that never ends I’ll be running till the second coming
(“???” at least one screamy part sounds like Controller otherwise Potato “???”)
Lost in the tunnel and the tunnel ain’t no fun now
I’m lost in all the shit you’re pushing
Lost in the tunnel and the tunnel’s getting funneled like the sewage in the plumbing cause we left the fucking water running
Got me diving got me diving
Got me deep under the bends
When I’m swimming don’t you let coming
Got me running got me running but the race it never ends
I’m feeling done in, it’s rather stunning
***Dictator Potato***
Lost in the tunnel and the tunnel is no fun now
I’m lost in all the shit you’re pushing
*** controller, controller***
Lost in the tunnel and the tunnel’s getting funneled like the sewage in the plumbingcause we left the fucking water running
Was cleared for… for liftoff
Aborted my takeoff
Living in the shadows, crossing my fingers
A date with the gallows and a reprieve’s not looking likely
You got me running you got me running you got me running you got me running
Oh please don’t liftoff
Hey buddy take off
Go buy a towel
I’m gonna see off
See you fuck off
F’goff!

Re: Running
My verdict: Running is gonna work well in the context of the album. Just a fun little piece to take a break from the more serious stuff surrounding it.

I really dig this song, I’m not sure why.
Maybe because I’m drunk and watched hoops all day.

I'm on board with all of this. Is this song perfect? No, but it kinda rips.Fattie_Vedder wrote:Everyone get over yourselves. This song is really good and fun. Still a solid 3, maybe 3.5. I can see this being really fun in the car.
Stupid, baffling choice for a single. But still really fun. When I’m in the mood for this type of song, it will scratch that itch. Things I love about it:
1. Bass coming in hard in the left channel then the explosion in the right
2. The 2nd guitar accenting the first more loudly adds a really cool layer and gives the effect of the volume going up and down slightly. I enjoy the push and pull of that.
3. The relentless pace
4. The sudden halt of the bridge. That beautiful bridge. I want more of it.
5. The way Ed pronounces certain words. Some really good choices here.
6. The briefest pause after the bridge before kicking back into gear
7. Mikes ambulance siren like solo accentuates the back and forth and up and down volume effects in 2. All of it heightens the theme of the song of running frantically and going nowhere. Maybe running in circles.
8. The “fuck off” at the end

Re: Running
The bridge is fantastic...should have tossed in another quick verse to remind us that we left the fucking water running so we could get a repeat of the bridge before the outro...

Re: Running
Listened on Amazon Music and with this better quality I'm liking it more. Think gonna give it a 3 instead of a 2.
Dark Matter followed it and worked fine combinated. Gonna be great to listen the full album.

Re: Running
Running is exactly how I want Pearl Jam in 2024. I know they are not Tool Radiohead Pink Floyd. They are not ! What they are is a bass player with 8 min left in the fourth quarter hanging onto a 1 bucket lead. A drummer that really has nothing to prove. A guitarist who saw it through has seen alot happen in his community came out the other side a unpretentious to a fault dork . A lead guitarist that is absolutely living out his rock and fantasy. A singer in the middle of a seventh inning stretch. Having a hell of a good time with what he was dealt.
A group a band making music together having a good time. I don't need more than that . Once in a while lighting will strike and something incredible will be come of it. Here's to you DOTC. Once in while it will be something else. Here's to you Supersonic. I think I will really enjoy Dark Matter for these reasons. Backspacer resonates for these reasons. Maybe Gigaton didn't maybe I could sense the way the album came together.

It’s on Spotify and it sounds better. I love the bass intro but I love what Jeff is doing in all the song.
Ed’s vocals are fierce! Love them actually. And yes the bridge is fucking tasty

Re: Running
I’m liking this song a lot. A tight punk rock tune. It’s not the type of fun, punky stuff from Backspacer or like Superblood Wolfmoon or Never Destination (and I like Backspacer and both of those songs). Running has more aggression and it’s heavier. This and Dark Matter have been the heaviest they have sounded in a long while.
I’m surprised they released this as the second single. I’m not talking because of the short track length but the fact they went with a heavier track. I was expecting a ballad.

I think is less of a single, and more of a preview of the album, whatever the difference is.

Re: Running
You know…this could be what they call a “promo single” and not a full blown single release (released to radio, getting a music video, etc.). Especially since Dark Matter is still doing so well. Maybe they wanted to release Wreckage or something else as an official second single but held off and released Running instead since Dark Matter is still doing well. Although, I wouldn’t mind if Running is a true official second single because I like it.Hypnosomnia wrote:I think is less of a single, and more of a preview of the album, whatever the difference is.
