you need to understand that "sonics" and "sound quality" and even "sound consistency" are not all about mixing and mastering

No, but…when an album is treated as heavily as this one is, it’s really hard to divorce any of these ideas from the decision made in the mixing and mastering stages.

Strat asked at some point about my thoughts on how they recorded drums. My short answer is I have no use how they recorded the drums, because there’s nothing remotely human about how they sound. Whatever choices were made at the tracking stage have been completely buried.

This is a great approach for lots of music, but you have to commit. Jorge’s friend Lucian or Cholo or whatever jt was hit the nail on the head when he described it as halfway between one sound and another. Just horrific stuff.

Yeah but file formats and codecs aren’t the same thing. One could theoretically prefer the lower bit rate and sample rate of Spotify over the Apple codec, for example

From my experience, YouTube has the worst sound quality. But maybe it's because the ads comes in all loud and clear and it makes the music you were just listening to sound all squashed and thin by comparison?

The problem is with EQ, not quality. Apple forces you into the presets. Pick any of them, they suck donkey dick.

W Spotify, I can tweak exactly how I want. Btw, I’m playing these songs through my Sonos speakers using Spotify and my custom EQ and they sound fantastic. Fantastic. When I first heard the Apple preset EQs a lightbulb went off in my head. “People are listening to PJ (or any music) like this?!?!”
