Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice (9-6-24)

Post by Stickman »

Image

After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.

I liked the first one a lot as a kid. Watched it recently and thought it was terrible. I'm curious to see this though. I like the cast and aesthetic. Could be good. I don't trust Burton anymore.

I watched the first one a few months ago and found it super holds up. An extremely fun movie with some all-time great production design

I honestly can't tell you. Just didn't vibe with it at all for some reason. Maybe I'll give it another try soon. I owe it to my childhood self. I think I watched it around Halloween and for some reason expected it to be less campy and more spooky horror.

You probably didn't watch the original cut with "Nice fucking model!" *honk, honk* still in it.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Since you have to say Beetlejuice three times to get him to show up....

does that mean they have to make a third one, for the groan-worthy title that it would imply.

I should rewatch the original. It's been a long time.
