Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
We have both UH and WT snippets on metal door sessions. Upper hand being the slower, Pink Floyd like clip and Won’t Tell is the one with “she pulled a book up off the shelf” and “waiting for your message to come”. I think this are the lyrics at least.Got Some wrote:So it’s sound like from the reviews
Waiting for Stevie
Scared of fear
React/Respond
Wreckage
Good To Give
Have been well received by reviewers
Setting sun
Something special
Seemed liked mostly
Dark matter & Running we know.
Won’t tell & Upper hand are barely mentioned.
Stone describes Waiting for Stevie as a hit!!! Still not sure the logic of running being a single tbh.

I think most of us did until Stone’s recent interview where he said the lyric “waiting for your message” was in won’t tell.Tj wrote:I thought won't tell was the slow one interesting now I'm confused

You trusting Stone! He has to say Matt Cameron so he doesn't accidentally start thinking of Matt Lukin.DDWJMUVW wrote:I think most of us did until Stone’s recent interview where he said the lyric “waiting for your message” was in won’t tell.Tj wrote:I thought won't tell was the slow one interesting now I'm confused
But more importantly where is the door leak

If this album takes Pearl Jam to a new kind of mainstream relevancy, I'm here for it, sounds fun. They're 60, every old rock band deserves their "comeback," even if it's fleeting and short lived.

Even though I like both songs, I'm still a bit worried about the 9 we haven't heard.

So much talk about relevance, who are we kidding ?
Even the band is smart enough to know it’s forever gone otherwise the music would not be so generic, it’s mostly money talks at this point, let’s not forget a new album release is first and foremost a business enterprise.

How on earth is this song gonna make 'em mainstream relevant?Leatherhead wrote:If this album takes Pearl Jam to a new kind of mainstream relevancy, I'm here for it, sounds fun. They're 60, every old rock band deserves their "comeback," even if it's fleeting and short lived.

I always liked that clip and assumed it was “Waiting For Stevie due to “WAITING for your message” lyric.
There are no real ballads confuses and excites me.
Confuses as wreckage has been described as sounding like Daughter/Sirens.
And Upper Hand sounding like (parachutes/all those yesterdays/parting ways)
Which are all ballads. I’m assuming both song make a shift at some point.
Interesting that Stone says the penultimate track “good To give” “rocks”.
And Waiting For Stevie sounds like Breathe/SOLAT is exciting.

The other nine must be stronger than the average of the two we have gotten so far.Leatherhead wrote:Even though I like both songs, I'm still a bit worried about the 9 we haven't heard.

Yes, I'm pretty sure (hopeful) that the other 9 are collectively stronger songs. Dark Matter is pretty damn great. I think I kind of underrated it at first, but it's a really solid song. Running is generally not the kind of song I look forward to, but it has grown on me. That chorus is a real earworm. The bridge was already a standout. Overall, I really like the two songs we have so far, but I also don't think they're the best the album has to offer, going by song descriptions.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

From the metal door leak, I've been most looking forward to Got to Give. Maybe that part is not characteristic of the entire song, but it sure sounded good to me.

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
I’ve not really listened to the metal door leak. Felt like it wouldn’t help my appreciation of the album.
