This is interesting, because that's a band that's hugely influenced by The Beatles in their songwriting (http://www.popmatters.com/feature/12818 ... aura-burh/). Do you think this is similar to you not being a punk fan but liking it when Pearl Jam does it? Like how the influence filters through a band you actually do care about.

I wasn't trying to do anything, that wasn't a "gotcha!" post. It was an honest question.

Your intention notwithstanding it makes harmless' taste in music look as silly as it generally should.

I think I know what you mean but I don't do PJ chat. I'm one of those cool cats. Like 'bain and zeb.

same here. I also think they've been mythologized by history, and by being first, and I tend to subconsciously push back against that a bit

Their body of work is so vast and varied. How much of it have you listened to? Seems to me there's something for everyone in what they did. But not being able to get past the vocals would make the rest difficult, I admit.
i think most people have probably heard most of the beatles catalog simply by virtue of existing

Lament wrote:I really don't care one way or the other about the Beatles at this point. Revolver is pretty cool for the most part, as are bits of the white album. I personally enjoy John's top tier of solo work (Working Class Hero, Instant Karma, Mind Games, How Do You Sleep?, etc.) more than I enjoy anything the Beatles did. And probably 95% of the Beatles stuff I do enjoy is John stuff.

For the most part though, I just don't care. I can't remember the last time I put a Beatles album on by choice. And I legitimately listen to a lot of music from that era very frequently.

They're better than Led Zeppelin though.

and, has been scientifically proven, pearl jam is also better than led zeppelin. So now we just need flannelking to figure out if pearl jam is better than the beatles

i like john's solo stuff more.

i understand that it's basically impossible to like rock and not like the beatles, but i wouldn't put them on when listening to music alone...

Same here. There's an emotional connection to be made there, a much more human experience. Stuff like Instant Karma, Working Class Hero, and Mind Games speak volumes in a way very little Beatles-stuff does (to me at least). Even my favorite Beatles songs for the most part (Yer Blues, I'm Only Sleeping, Dear Prudence) are pretty much John only affairs.

Yoko Ono has the best account on twitter, so that's all anyone really needs to know about the Beatles anyways.
