This has been Pearl Jam's most expensive tour. Plenty of room for it to be higher and still sell these shows out. Fortunately they aren't

I think the ticket prices are a bigger deal than the vinyls, but I can only afford one show a year anyway and it's not Pearl Jam

Re: Post-Riot Act Moneygrab
The vinyl industry has been running on fumes for at least 3 years. It's hard for younger acts to press vinyl because the processing plants are in overdrive largely due to legacy acts hogging resources to milk their fanbases dry, so smaller labels and independent artists struggle to meet demand. This sends already ridiculous prices soaring even higher.
I don't know how much they're pressing but 12 is a lot of variants. I hope they're responsible about it

There are 12 for the record stores, but there are at least 14 different ones, if not more.

That's interesting. I wonder why the industry isn't adding capacity.

all utterly inessential to general fandom and designed to appeal to a niche market that enjoys them. I mean I think one variant is too many, but I'm not a collector, and happily, like t-shirts and basketballs, all of this can be easily ignored by me IF THE BOARD WOULD STOP FUCKING BITCHING ABOUT THEM CONSTANTLYAnders wrote:There are 12 for the record stores, but there are at least 14 different ones, if not more.

I appreciate this is a systemic issue that PJ are seemingly playing into here, I just don't think it's a "PJ issue"; they're not the first band to do this by a longshot

I don't know. Maybe it's too much of an upfront cost. Jack White made a video recently from Third Man headquarters begging the record industry to create more vinyl processing plants because of how bad they were struggling.stip wrote:same.Jorge wrote:The vinyl industry has been running on fumes for at least 3 years. This lack of resources also leads artists to turn to smaller / borderline bootleg vinyl operations that are low quality and results in noisy or otherwise defective pressings
Creating a situation where bigger acts end up getting the premium / nice sounding vinyl, while smaller acts are relegated to the cheap noisy stuff
