Abbruzzese was let go from Pearl Jam in August 1994. Dave A's last show with Pearl Jam was April 17, 1994.
This is almost exactly the same time as I was in middle school. I started August of 1991, and finished in June of 1994. I started high school in August of 1994. It's a long time ago, and I barely think of my time in middle school now.
But I don't blame Dave A for sharing. I enjoy hearing from him, as this was a very special time in Pearl Jam's history.

I really enjoy his performance videos
Should he move on, is he a bit fixated on the band 30 years after his dismissal... who am I to say.
I just enjoy hearing him play

As that video above shows, he's still a great drummer with a unique 'voice' on the instrument.
The moment he starts playing, that sound is right there.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: Dave A. on drumming for Pearl Jam, Eddie, etc.
I think Dave A is overrated. Had he been the drummer for Backspacer and lightning bolt ...everyone would be shitting on him like they do Matt. Dave's drumming was pretty standard shit for the time...he was nowhere near the top 10 when it comes to drummers of the 90's. In fact, out of all the PJ drummers...it was Jack that had the most style...No Code and Yield have WAY more interesting drum riffs, fills and style than anything Dave A did. WMA is about the only Dave A drum performance that comes close.
Even that dude Richard Stuvard or whatever his name is,filled in for Matt and crushed all of Dave A's Vs. parts....Matt's WMA performances have been killer too. Look what he did with Betterman...that fill on Live on 2 Legs!! C'mon. Never got all the hype on Dave A. He never fit the band... personality or style.

Completely disagree. It wasn't what was played it was how it was played. Jack plays differently but he also has great feel.
It's not about tricks or fills.

Re: Dave A. on drumming for Pearl Jam, Eddie, etc.
I finally listened to the interview this morning.
I don’t know what to say about it other than I have been in multiple bands and on tons of sports teams and I understand how you can perform well together on the stage/field/court but not get along off of it.
The part that stood out to me is he lauds Stone for having the balls to fire him in person, yet he quit on Axl Rose with a letter.

The more I hear him play, the more I feel PJ made the wrong move.
The more I hear him talk, the more I feel PJ made the right move.

Re: Dave A. on drumming for Pearl Jam, Eddie, etc.
He was in the band for exactly three years. Majority of the Ten tour, Vs. album, Vs. tour, majority of the Vitalogy album (but did not know of the finished product, and wasn't as pleased with it as he thought he would be while working on the material).
He was let go from the band 30 years ago this year.
He's never coming back.
But I do wish they could have handled it all better. That they could have had all the drummers on stage at the hall of fame, had Dave A back for a couple of songs on a show at least once.
