In a pan or in the oven I would make an open faced grilled cheese sandwich, or probably a few. If I want to do the lid thing, I'll use the sandwich maker.

The best grilled cheese I've ever had were at the primary school canteen, half horse shoe buns with cheese on top literally grilled from above under the electric grill.

Those things were like nothing else on a cold morning recess.
