- Experience highlight: Pre-show dinner with a bunch of my extended family that lives in Spokane. The guy right behind us recognized us from when we all drank pre-show Reign Man shots together at Oskar’s 4 years earlier in Seattle. Also they brought Steve Gleason up on stage - very cool.
- Setlist highlight: Begrudgingly I go with Brain Of J. which was a fan request … guy had a sign, Ed pulled him on stage. Guy had extremely long dreadlocks, which they shaved a couple off then played his request. Begrudgingly because they scrapped Leash from the setlist in order to accommodate the request.

- Experience highlight: Spending like 3 hours in the freezing cold in line for the PJ pop up shop at the Showbox the following day. As I recall they were selling Glassybaby candle jars to support some charity and for each one purchased you got a raffle ticket for a complete set of those PJ baseball cards. The candle things were probably at least $40 each. Some guy bought nearly the whole fucking pallet of them. Yes he won the raffle. Probably was that Seattle Batman guy who owns Matco Tools.

I've now seen the Mamasan Trilogy three times, once in its original order & twice mixed up. That's fun.

Went with my college girlfriend. I really hadn't seen much live music and similar to most of you, seeing Pearl Jam for the first time is one of the great experiences of my life. I didn't really get into Pearl Jam until 1995 and my friends at school were talking shit about them for being so arrogant, not playing enough shows, blah, blah, blah. I just knew I loved the first 3 albums and I Got Id.
Everything was all a highlight, but 3 things that stand out:
1. Alive. The first time hearing Alive in concert was a life changing moment for me.
2. Ed's improv song that he had written that day. It NEVER occured to me that something like that was possible.
3. Ed saying to the crowd, "I know it's not easy to like this band, but we sure appreciate that you do.....this Blood's for you South Carolina" and then just ripping his throat out screaming for all of us.

We need a No Code tour vault show - not Berlin.Hatfield wrote:10/5/96 - Charleston, SC

Re: Highlights from shows you’ve attended over the years…
november 13, 2006: melbourne, australia
- me and the friend of mine i was attending the show with saw a guy in hmv looking at the avocado vinyl on the day of the show. we asked him if he was going to the show that night and he said he was and that he'd seen all the shows on that tour so far. his voice was shot from the good times. once we got into the venue and found our seats (they still had seats on the floor for their shows at rod laver arena at the time) it turned out he and his friends' seats were right next to ours. i remember the two of them being super excited when they realised we had better seats than australian cricket legend shane warne, who people were chanting "warrrrrney" for behind him before the show started and also being super excited when they played leatherman.
- i was 15 at the time and loved the early days of eddie telling security guards off, so was pretty excited when he told one off for telling a guy to leave for smoking a cigarette during ledbetter.

november 20, 2009: melbourne, australia
- this one was in a much bigger, less fun venue. me and a couple of friends lined up from the morning to get a good spot (no allocated chairs on the floor anymore). i remember to kill the time some ten clubbers throwing a ball against a way for literally like 5 hours. ended up at the front of the middle barrier, close-ish to the front. eddie ran down the middle high fiving everyone and after me and my mate got a high-five we just turned to each other and without saying anything just both let out a massive "YEEEEEEEEEAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!". pretty gay.

january 24, 2014: melbourne, australia (big day out festival)
january 26, 2014: sydney, australia (big day out festival)
- these both blur into one for me. i saw one show with a friend (the friend from 2006) and another with my brother. sydney was australia day so there were heaps of drunken idiots on the train to and from and at the show. eddie was also drunk i think.
- i remember liam gallagher's beady eye band were playing before pearl jam and ONE girl was there to see him (the rest were there getting a spot for pj). she kept yelling out "YEAAAHHH LIAM G!!!" and being confused why no one else cared. liam g was pissed off and said "yeah that's it. i don't want you to jump around, or dance, or put your hands in the air. i just want you to stand there... and fucking stare..." don't remember which of the shows that was.

Re: Highlights from shows you’ve attended over the years…
september 9, 2017: ohana festival, ca (eddie solo)
- i'd seen eddie solo twice before but this was special. my first (and still only) time being in america, i'd been through a couple of brutal breakups that year and travelled to california to see the mynabirds and eddie at ohana festival by myself. he came out and played river cross first the first time (this was before gigaton was out) and tagged it with i'm so tired by fugazi (chris cornell's last words to his wife). it was super moving and a powerful moment.
- as a big fiona apple fan i was pretty excited to see her come out on stage with him for ritfw, looking totally giddy when he had a dance with her.
- i took this video and was totally tearing up behind the camera, thinking about the shit i'd been through that year as well as what eddie was probably channelling at the time too.
