I don't see any Bruce influence in PJs 90s stuff. I don't think Eddie was even outspoken about his Bruce love until the 00s.

I actually don't see much Fugazi influence in Pearl Jams music. I think Ed's attitude was a little influenced by Fugazi for a time which maybe shaped his writing in some way. But there is no song I can think of where I would say it sounds like a Fugazi song.

I think Fugazi influenced Pearl Jam in that Ed wishes he had Ian's coolness and integrity, but that's about it.

The bridge of Never Destination told me that PJ can still pull off an homage to The Who. That has me excited. If they're gonna sound like one of their heroes, that's the one that I think hits their sweet spot the best.

The Who and Neil Young are two of my all-time favourites and I feel like they're the "classic artists" that best suit PJ as influences.

I think they are good at taking the good parts of their influences and leaving out the bad parts. I love their Neil Young inspired stuff but am lukewarm about Neil himself (mostly because of his voice)
I also like when they are inspired but Zeppelin but I really don't care about Zeppelin

This is why I Got Shit is one of the best songs ever made. Everything I love about Neil with him playing lead guitar, with Ed singing urgent, beautiful vocals. For the record though, I kind of like Neil's voice. Built To Spill is another band heavily influenced by him, and Doug Martsch does a pretty good Neil-ish singing style.

I feel the same way about Hail, Hail - a song that is uniquely Pearl Jam, but clearly owes a debt to Neil and The Who without sounding like them.

Hail Hail is their perfect "up-tempo rock song."

I've been saying for a long time (since Backspacer actually) that if they want to go "pop" with a darker edge, they really need to consciously look at The Cure; I didn't really hear that until Earthling ("The Dark") but I look forward to hearing more of it

While I think The Dark is a great track, I really hope to not hear anything quite that poppy and glossy on this album (yeah, I know something special will prob be just that).

Apparently there are some Cure vibes in both Wreckage and Won't Tell. Time WILL tell whether there is balance and it sounds good.

The clip of won't tell on metal door sesh has me really excited (as does React, Respond).

Smile, Betterman, Off He Goes, I Got Shit, Long Road, Footsteps, All or None, Hail Hail, Red Mosquito, 1/2 Full, Elderly Woman, Nothingman, U, Down, Undone, Present Tense, have I missed any?
