During album release cycles I try to spend some time albums I've neglected. Yield and Backspacer are definitely the most listened to albums in the last years. So I've spent alot of time with Ten S/T Riot Act and Gigaton. Everything about Ten is perfect yes even the production. It just sounds huge. It slid for years it may have regained #1 status. S/T is head and shoulders above Gig and Riot. The first 3 on Gig are absolutely a force then it goes to complete crap for me. Riot Act is 2nd to last just ahead of LB.

I agree about Ten. It's just perfect. Pretty much every song is a 10/10 for me. It somehow isn't my favorite yet its their only album that I think I would call a masterpiece. Every other album has a flaw here and there

This needs to leak yesterday. They’ve given us so little….

I don’t want clips at this point, just want to hear the whole thing cover to cover.

So bored of discussing the potential of this album and its sonic touch points as relates to prior high points in their career.
Need new songs to converse over now...please...for the love of all that is holy and good.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

What's your take on Hackney Diamonds?
I loved it immediately. More than I could ever hope for given how late in their career it landed. I consider Steel Wheels (1989) to be the beginning of modern era Stones. Hackney Diamonds is my favorite of the modern era.

I'd rank them as follows:
Hackney Diamonds
Bridges to Babylon
Bigger Bang
Steel Wheels
Voodo Lounge

Blue and Lonesome is a studio recording but since its covers I don't really consider it a studio album.

Funny, I think of it as a studio album in the same vein as the early albums except obviously now they are just a different band. Steel Wheels is definitely the perfect cut off though. Undercover and Dirty Work are kinda their own thing.

That's totally awesome that they were able to give you such a huge gift at this stage in their career!

I love that the Stones’ “late era” begins before our boys had even shown up, and is still going on.

I'm a bit torn about whether I want more clips or even another single before the release. On the one hand I love the discussion it creates here and being able to have all the talking focused on one thing. When the album comes out no song will get as much focused discussion as Dark Matter and Running got.

On the other hand I heavily dislike knowing too many songs of an album before release. There are a lot of albums recently that release as much as 4 or even 5 singles before the album is released and that dampens the excitement when listening to the whole thing quite a bit. Also, getting to know a song by a snippet first feels kind of weird, especially when the snippet is like 20-30 seconds long. Is that how I want to get to know music? In little parts, just to keep the hype going? It's always the same for me: Initial excitement for a snippet because I am very curious by nature and want to know as much as I can and also loving the discussion about it. After the fact I then wish I was more patient and just waited for the whole song. It's a very weird way to consume art.

If there is one snippet of the first songs it's very interesting because you get a hint about how the album might sound/how it's produced. But do I want more after that? The curious part of my brain says yes, the more rational part says no.

I agree. No snippets at this stage. I wouldn't mind another single, though. Wreckage, perhaps?
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Honestly, I would prefer that the album just leaks now. Ideally, I want a full album listen from start to end.
