Haha, nice one. That was magical, better than the Infallible one. Thanks for the extra care on the "drown" bit.CupidStunt wrote:Aww man, I didn't realise you'd actually do it. Did a terrible "yeayeaah" in the bridge but couldn't be bothered re-doing it, surprisingly not a very fun song to sing besides the high parts. Quite hard to latch onto the lower bits in the bridge/chorus/whatever-you-call-it part too without a vocal guide
Has anyone ever suggested a RM collaborative project to cover songs, with different users contributing different parts?

The more I listen the more I hear Down/Undone. Someone pointed that out at some point and I think they're right. This has a Down/ITW hybrid kind of sound.harmless wrote:Other than that, does anyone else get a Vs. / Daughter feel from this, the way it builds from a nice little unassuming acoustic ditty to something bigger?

So can anyone hear that distant drum track in this intro, before the actual drums are supposed to start?

Re: Swallowed Whole
I'm not hearing it with studio-grade monitors or headphones.
I hear a tambourine like noise that sounds like they peaked a bad frequency on the acoustic guitar, or maybe Ed's shitty guitar has an imperfection or poorly cut strings that are causing it. It matches the strum pattern too exactly to be a metronome headphone feed getting picked up by the mics.
Other than that, I can hear him lightly bump up against the body of the guitar at around 10-11 seconds as his strumming grows more pronounced, and a very low level sound that might be a voice getting captured or an electronic error at like six seconds in. That's about it.

They do sound like drums to me.
I brought them up:
When the second guitar comes in, you can hear what sounds like a snare.

I haven't heard it at all listening to the song, but did they pick up Matt working on something different while recording the guitar part?theplatypus wrote:They do sound like drums to me.

I don't think it's something different, it's only just out of time with the guitar (by like a millisecond). It sounds to me like an intro that they cut out, except they didn't, they just turned it down to be cut out later, but then forgot. Or it could somethin' else.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:I haven't heard it at all listening to the song, but did they pick up Matt working on something different while recording the guitar part?theplatypus wrote:They do sound like drums to me.

Hmm, that could be. I was thinking about taking a break from the album for a day or 2, but i might listen with headphones again and see if i can hear it.
