"haaaaayyyuuhhhuunnnnd" at 19 seconds into that clip sounds good to you?
I mean, that's singing.
How insightful...

You didn't answer my question...Does it sound GOOD to you?
Sounds more like the onset of a stroke to me.
Bait: Not taken.
What are you on about? I'm not trolling you...I'm asking for a little strength of character, I'm begging for color, insight, depth, personality....Give me a little more than the most meaningless, bland, vanilla, wallpaper response imaginable...Why do you like it? What do you like about it? A difference of opinion is not a disease. It should be embraced.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Aside from hating the way Ed sounds, this song is hokey as dang. As dang. So hokey. In a bad way.

"speeciooohhohhh"

it's just painful to listen to.. it's like he doesn't know how to breathe and is trying so hard to get all the words out in time but forgot how to say some of them correctly.. not pleasant
you know which singer enunciates well? Josh Tillman.

I don't hear it. He doesn't just sing "hand", but it's not what you wrote either. Singers take liberties with the way they pronounce words when singing. "Jeremy spoke in class today" wasn't sung like it's written. I mean, that's a given.

Yes, but that sounded good, confident, necessary

The word "hand" is hardly elongated enough to even stick out. I do get the issues some people have with Ed overpronouncing certain vowels and stuff in recent years, but I just don't hear it in this clip. He sounds good and the melody is catchy. The song, I don't think I'll rank as anywhere near the best on the album, simply because this kind of song isn't my thing. But it's not making me cringe.

To those who liked it. Others made fun of his enunciation. Same applies to this clip. I like it.

Ed's voice was always the best thing about Pearl Jam, for me. It still is, in studio especially.

There are times when Ed's "noises" are good (see REM's It Happened Today) and times when it's not so good. At the end of the day.

I think the main thing that's bugging me is, unlike the Jeremy example that Release_Me gave earlier, where that was 100% a creative choice from a singer fully in control of their instrument, this sounds like someone who arrived at this outcome out of necessity.

isnt he just pitching up the word hand. maybe you dont like the sound of it (i dont lovr it personally) but it seems like a pretty standard choice a singer could make. Its not a Vedderism. Its nit an elongated vowel situation.

not being funny but are we supposed to think you're hearing with pinpoint accuracy when you're typing wild hyperbole like that?

I hear it, but it's definitely not nearly as bad as Lightning Bolt; I actually have a hunch that this might have been recorded early, closer to LB, at least these vocals, because I don't hear any of those problems (but once) in the two singles

I don’t think how he pronounces “hand” is an issue at all. The processing and/or auto tuning going on with it sounds odd though. Seems like a hard splice after it as well.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.
