If you don't like how he sounds on this that's obviously fine (my tastes for Eddie run pretty much in tandem with Release_Me) but singling this out does have 'gotta nuke something' vibes to me

Paul McCartney plays bass on one of the Stones new songs Bite My Head Off. Jeff's bass sound on this Something Special clip sounds very similar. I've also seen an interview with Watt where he talks about his love for the violin-style bass guitar, so there's a possible connection here, in terms of the gear (and obviously same producer).
