Seven Samurai. What's there to say? I now understand why it's praised so much. Brilliant movie. It feels timeless, like a collection of Aesop's Fables.

The First Omen.
Enjoyed it. Great aesthetics, an earned retro vibe. Creepy with a competent and engaging visual language. Solid to great performances all around. Nice score.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

1999 was damn near my film pretention apex and I had no idea this thing existed. Not then. Not until about 2 minutes before I watched it. Unreal.tragabigzanda wrote:I think we’re all a little stymiedepilogue wrote:But I'm A Cheerleader

Part of me feels like I failed having not even heard of it until yesterday. But most of me is just fucking thrilled to pieces that I've seen!
