So who here doesn't really like the Beatles

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

The magnitude of mean spirit directly correlates with the size of stip's (gigantic) balls.

This wasn't bad. I like the subdued, whispered feel to this one. Didn't like the last 15 seconds or so, though

I'd argue this is as good as rock music gets:

no. I think it gets at least slightly better.

oh good, they're using their deep voices.

This chorus is annoying. Fortunately it's a small part of the song.

I actually like the guitar part that gets played after the 'don't let me down' lyric. Otherwise I could leave pretty much this whole thing
It's my single favorite song in the whole world.
Egad. Why?

No thank you. The harmonies, the guitar tone, the melody, this is like everything I find boring about the beatles distilled into 3 minutes. Not bad, just uninteresting. Hypnotic, in a way, but not a good way

Fuck, this goes on for two more minutes.

I can't imagine there's not better examples of every part of this song in some other Beatles song

That blurry distorted sound that cuts through occasionally is pretty annoying

Actually at the very end it was kinda cool
Okay, now compare it to this one:

no thank you. I don't like the lazy sunday feel of the verses and wish their was a strong contrast with the chorus.

He hasn't said anything worse than what Lennon as said about most of these songs.
No, I mean we're making him listen to all these songs he's not gonna like, and then we're laughing at what he says about them.
Yeah. It's great.

this thread is mostly McParadigm's early X-mas present.

in general any song with a harpsichord is probably a nonstarter for me. I think this is one of the ugliest instruments ever created by man.

this feels very british. I can appreciate the social satire here, but this feels a bit too ham fisted for me.

ham fisted...

I'm very tempted to print out the last few pages so I can keep them with me wherever I go, but I feel like losing the post-by-post organization and accompanying avatars will be a severe detriment to my ability to enjoy it.

I think it's majestic. The lyrics, though simple, strike all the right chords in me. And John's delivery destroys me. It's one of my favorite vocal performances in rock music. I've always been a big blues fan, and this guy has a hell of a blues backbone. The beat is infectious. There so much passion in the playing of it. There's so much room and life in this song. It embodies everything I love about rock music. And it nails every aspect.

But the guitar and backing harmony vocals are so amazing...?.

What, pray tell, was so humorous about it?

I mean Piggies. The lyrics made me laugh.

I liked Dear Prudence. As far as I can recall. I listened to all of the white album, so not every song springs to mind.

I'd enjoy it a lot more if Lennon wasn't singing it.

I think one of my big issues is just that I don't like the 60s aesthetic.

I like the bass.

The strings bit at 1:50 is kinda cool. Nice transition.

I think I like McCartney's part of this song more than Lennon's part, although if I was hearing someone else cover it I bet I'd prefer Lennon's part more.

The dramatic transitions are neat, although the last one may be a bit too much
