Have a great time!
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Which leak you loading?
Hoping hard, and making threats
Yeah, this is dreaming
Look for leaks in the interweb
That are worth keeping
Fallowed trag in negatives
It's so sad and sickening
Feel the air up smoke
Oh, pool of leakage
Fill the air up with atmos
All dark with matter
Feel the torrent blanket you
Oh, with vowel and pentatonics
Hear the keys played by the watt
For you to trash on
For you to trash on
Nothing left, nothing left
Nothing there, nothing here
Nothing left, nothing left
Nothing there, nothing left
Nothing left, nothing left
Nothing there yeah, nothing here
Oh, yeah
Hear the plug in cut by the watt
For you to trash on
See the waves compressed on screens
Awaiting your denial
Dream the dreams of other men
You'll be no one's rival!
Dream the dreams of others then
You will be know one's leaker
feel the 'phones

I want this to leak so I can focus on Taylor Swift on Friday.

I predict this will be like S/T after Riot Act. There will be initial excitement about a return to form, but it will ultimately be viewed as so-so and really engender a deeper appreciation of Gigaton.

Except waiting for Stevie. That song will be the equivalent of the song Bill and Ted wrote to unite the Jamily, end premium pricing, and bring back the LV account.

Everything but that last bit sounds about right actually.

So now that Running was released three weeks ago it hasn’t made a dent in the radio charts. My thoughts are that it was released as a “promotional track” to give people more of a taste of the album. I bet the second “official” radio single will be Wreckage judging by the Matt Cameron interview and early rumors. I still enjoy Running but like others have said it kind of is confusing why they would release it prior to album release. They must have wanted to give fans more heavy rock since Dark Matter has been so successful. My guess, Wreckage as second official single and if they release a third they will go with one of the heavier rock tracks like Scared of Fear or React, Respond. With reading all of these reviews both of those heavy tracks appear to be big standouts along with Waiting For Stevie. I definitely want to hear React, Respond the most just by that metal door clip.

Right out of the gate, Ed addresses the “best work yet” line.

The part about Ed watching The Last Dance and being caught off guard when Present Tense started was pretty great.

I don't think Running was released to radio either. I live in a market that probably has one of the most Pearl Jam-friendly rock stations in the US. It's to the point where even Ed gives them interviews, shout-outs at concerts, etc. They heavily play everything that PJ releases, including stuff like Retrograde when it came out. They haven't played Running once. It's all Dark Matter so far.

Great interview...thanks for posting. Interesting discussion around their ability and potential to be more prolific.
Basically comes down to the engine surrounding the releases, the albums being advertisements for the live shows, at this point, and families.
Nothing shocking, but, still good to hear from the man himself.

One of the DJs talked about going to a huge number of shows and burning CDs of live gigs back in the day. Seemed to be a real fan.

Interesting. Running isn’t exactly radio-friendly too. It’s a good heavy punk tune but definitely not something a lot of people expect them to release to mainstream rock radio. I think Retrograde was an actual official single released to more of the Adult Altenative Airplay formats. It’s funny to think about it but I never once heard Retrograde or Dance of the Clairvoyants on my local stations. However, I heard Superblood Wolfmoon quite a bit upon release. I guess it’s all about the station formats. The local rock stations are terrible where I’m at and rarely play anything new. I haven’t listened to radio much at all the past year since I got Apple Music.
