I was kinda thinking this was going to be leaked by now. Maybe tomorrow with all those movie screenings?

Also has to bail. There was an obnoxious Greek fan at mine who kept waving a flag and screaming "Eddie! Eddie!"

All jokes aside, you've got to be a fan of a certain degree to even consider going to something like this. Everyone walking in already has something in common and you're all there for the same purpose.E.H. Ruddock wrote:My wife has been gone for a week and got back late last night. I’ve been very cautious talking about new Pearl Jam with my wife. I wouldn’t want her filing for divorce.
I definitely understand any anxiety you might have, trust me, but, look at it this way...no one is there to judge anyone else who's there; they all share in the desire to hear a truly great Pearl Jam album.
Go and don't be ashamed to be a fan. There's enough negativity in the world.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Something to be said for being comfortable enough in your own skin so as to not care about the need to be so self-consciously cool.lecherouslittlestump wrote:Also has to bail. There was an obnoxious Greek fan at mine who kept waving a flag and screaming "Eddie! Eddie!"

You can be comfortable in your own skin and keep to your fucking self and not ruin it for other people too. Can I be comfortable enough in my own skin to hold my phone up throughout a whole gig too?oneway23 wrote:Something to be said for being comfortable enough in your own skin so as to not care about the need to be so self-consciously cool.lecherouslittlestump wrote:Also has to bail. First 3 tunes were fine too. Definitely needs a few listens before making an opinion.

I had abstained from listening to Dark Matter and Running for over a week, but my five-year-old just requested them in the car. So the full album listen, whenever it happens, won’t be as fresh as I’d intended, but I’ll take it.

I’m reminded of the time I downloaded a leak of the new arcade fire record and it was so different and full on rock and I loved it.
Then it turns out it wasn’t the new arcade fire record some other band put their album out pretending to be the new arcade fire record leak and apart from that being a stroke of genius I came on here and admitted that and that snob Kevin Davis went one of his interminable lengthy diatribes and called me ignorant and that’s exactly what’s wrong with leak culture
He didn’t like leak culture.
There’s a lesson in this.
Never did find out who that band were. It was a brilliant album

I'm not saying I would've loved for that to be my initial listen, either, but, you're at a public listening event, presumably with other fans. If you're that concerned over how the actions of others are going to affect your experience, stay home and wait for release day so you can listen however pleases you.Huell wrote:You can be comfortable in your own skin and keep to your fucking self and not ruin it for other people too. If only someone had the idea of leaking Dark Matter and it's out there right now under a different name.dimejinky99 wrote:I’m reminded of the time I downloaded a leak of the new arcade fire record and it was so different and full on rock and I loved it.

Tell me about it! The guy must have been in his 30’s… but like that fandom is so identity based. Anyway, I had been sick all week and looking forward to it. I just was not in the form to for that carry on. Who knows why he behaved like that… lightning bolt great? This album must be like Mozart to him
By the way, they were playing Ten before which was a glaring contrast to Dark Matter. There is no mid range from what I heard… it’s very unusual. The bass is like at guitar range. Hearing next to Ten was weird.

I stood in the corner and provided wry and witty commentary about how the drums sounded like ass and Ed's vocals were too breathy. Unfortunately my pearls of wisdom were drowned out by obnoxious sounds of cheers and and happiness. I hate Pearl Jam fans.oneway23 wrote:Something to be said for being comfortable enough in your own skin so as to not care about the need to be so self-consciously cool.lecherouslittlestump wrote:Also has to bail.
