Upper Hand

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Early five star. It’ll probably settle but it is scratching all of the itches right now.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Epic song
Feels like the song they've been trying to write for years but finally nailed in on this one

Re: Upper Hand
Based on first impressions, best track on the album. Could be one of the best things they've done in a long time. McCready going all Hendrix on this

This will be the one that needs a few listens for me. Sounds OK, chorus doesn't grab me. But I'm reminded of Come Back in that sense, and that became top tier PJ for me over the years.

Would have loved to see a song based on that intro.

This is an early favourite. It gives me everything I want from Pearl Jam. A great intro, atmosphere, slow-build upto a thrilling climax. It moves through so many gears. Fantastic song.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Re: Upper Hand
I just remember thinking "Mike is playing his ass off!"... it's got that sweet, Hendrix-y Yellow Ledbetter bluesy riffage

Re: Upper Hand
I'm a bit torn on the outro. It feels like a tacked on jam. I love the rest of the track, but the outro doesn't feel earned. It goes too abruptly into an uplifting jam that it feels jarring. Could get used to it thoughspike wrote:what a monster. outro is kinda stupid though.

Love songs that go on for like 2 minutes before you even hear a vocal
Great build on this one
Mike's guitar is ace - Can't wait to learn this one
Close 2nd place
Waiting For Stevie wins 1st place

Oh, the intro to this is absolutely incredible. Gives me chills. Would make for an amazing concert walk out.
