Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Love the album so far. Can't wait to hear a good quality on a good system
Those first 2 songs are great!!
loved the opening riff on scared of fear and the breakdown and solo were great
React Respond sounded awesome and had a bunch of cool changes
Wreckage sounds like it could be a radio hit very Petty & very Springsteen like
I really liked it and the loved the harmonies and guitar on this
This one could grow to be a fun summer song
Upper Hand blew me away...That long intro leading into some great guitar work and vocals
the verse guitar has some Yellow Ledbetter like noodling. Definitely a standout song
I thought Upper Hand would be the best song on the record
Then...Waiting For Stevie!! Holy Cow! Just has the whole formula. Firing on all cylinders. Great Eddie Vocals and melody, awesome guitar riffs, Mike solo & Matt drums .
This is like a time machine back to the 90's
Liked the little interlude part leading into Running
Running made a lot more sense and enjoyed it's placement on the album
Same goes with Dark Matter.
Got to Give really feels like Springsteen and The Who
The ending of it really gains steam and kicks ass
Something Special is not bad. I don't care what anyone says
I enjoy it - I love the words and can relate so much to this one
It's fun song and is certainly miles above any cheesy Jill and the Kids song Eddie has written
This is so much better than The Halves & Future Days.
Setting Sun is fantastic. Love the mellow beginning to it
Definitely has a breezy beach vibe to it
Then it goes into this totally cool and unexpected part leading to a great outro
The last bit of the song sounds a bit like footsteps as it closes out
Overall first impressions are positive. I think there is a lot to comeback to on this and explore further
It makes me want to listen to it over and over and that isn't something that I felt on Lightning Bolt or Backspacer
I loved Gigaton, but this one feels like it's better. Time will tell
I now want to go to the theater on Tuesday and hear this on a good system
Here's my rankings so far
Waiting for Stevie
Upper Hand
React / Respond
Scared of Fear
Setting Sun
Wreckage
Got To Give
Won't Tell

Thanks so much for the positive vibes!
Do you all remember the guy from the LB listening party who sketched pictures and doodles and what not? That was my inspiration. I tried to do something similar but I'm apparently not much of an artist.

I think WFS suffers a bit from its placement…the third mid-tempo song in a row and coming after Upper Hand which is lengthy and similar in structure. As a stand-alone song I really liked it.

I don't mean the record player Twitter clip; I mean the very first one before the single came out

I guess I don't disagree. But it won't matter live at least.Homeboyd wrote:I think WFS suffers a bit from its placement…the third mid-tempo song in a row and coming after Upper Hand which is lengthy and similar in structure. As a stand-alone song I really liked it.

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Just got back from the listening party.
And, I heard the leak a few times.
I would def say this is better than Gigaton, LB and Backspacer.
This is a great record.
