Probably could have been improved by Welcome to the Jungle playing as they reach the city, but I say that about most things.

But it talked about him drone striking US citizens, and we know how much dems love killing and persecuting American citizens!

But seriously, I think it was as apolitical as I had heard. But if you held a gun to my head and forced me to say what it's politics were, I'd say
Spoiler: show
a vague anti-government, libertarian-ish leaning. Mainly because of Offerman playing a cowardly president and that one scene with some bugaloo boys being generally effective (if a bit war crimy).

Civil War (2024)

Post by Ensign9 »

Just saw it. Visually and aurally arresting. Some of the plot elements I was expecting to see (red state hillbilly army taking down the government) weren't points of emphasis which is good because there's not really a side to root for here. War is hell and Garland effectively communicated its chaos and pointlessness.

That said, I had a kind of, "What was the point?" feeling as credits rolled. This probably needs a rewatch to properly absorb and I have no plans to ever rewatch it.

Dunst and the rest of the cast are great. Definitely worth seeing (in IMAX) but brace yourself.

it had a relatively big opening, which is surprising since these kinda movies usually bomb I think.

Realism was among the film's strong suits but there's no way the POTUS is making his last stand in the Oval Office under his desk instead of the underground bunker.

Yeah i thought the same thing. When they were rushing the White House i was thinking “how will they get in to the bunker? Haven’t they seen Olympus has fallen?”

What definitely DID ring true about that sequence was Nick Offertrump sending his staff to die in SUVs up against tanks.
