I don't think the lyrics are illogical at all. Just cheesy as hell. Lol. Putting the song on a PJ album was probably unnecessary, but the song has more going for it than Future Days, for example.Ms Harmless wrote:the Something Special lyrics are still better than Supersonic's; at least they make logical fucking sense
there's actually only one "cringe" part for me and that's the "working for free" verse; but that's SUPPOSED to be cloyingly sentimental
I don't hear any part of this song and think it lacks self-awareness; Ed knows what he did and should feel fine about it, even if his daughters disown him

Ha yeah, that was my recording. I almost made it through with a clean recording until the store owner yells out "I have more pizza here!" He seemed really concerned that we weren't eating enough pizza. Everyone there was super focused on listening. Like "shut up dude, we're listening right now, we'll eat your pizza when this is done."Release_Me wrote:Btw, I find this recording to be the one most suitable for my shitty, cheap headphones:

I think this is the one by bluestate. No crying baby, but a guy says "I need more pizza" just when Upper Hand starts.
The crowd is generally quiet during the songs, which makes this very listenable.

how do you explain "Supersonic gonna take my soul / I stopped the rhythm but my clock was full, yeah"; what does it mean to have a full clock, why does that clause come after a "but", how is it all connected to stopping a rhythm?Release_Me wrote:I don't think the lyrics are illogical at all. Could that be an extremely vague reference to one’s toiling away on a 9 to 5 job?Ms Harmless wrote: how do you explain "Supersonic gonna take my soul / I stopped the rhythm but my clock was full, yeah"; what does it mean to have a full clock, why does that clause come after a "but", how is it all connected to stopping a rhythm?

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Usually lurk around here during new album time, but I just wanted to shout out bluestate for providing the recording and the whole RM community for all the great reviews. I planned on waiting for the vinyl, but quickly caved after reading everything. Great to see such a positive response to the bands 12th album! I had pretty high expectations coming off Gigaton, and these guys somehow seemed to have topped them. Of course there's some new album excitement involved here, but front-to-back there is so much to love about these songs. Something Special lyric's are rough, but having a baby daughter probably softened me a bit on that. While I've grown to appreciate each album they've released, some hit immediately (Yield changed my whole taste in music) and others took some time to digest (No Code, the back half of Gigaton). DM is definitely an immediate hit. Can't wait to get my vinyl and play this loud!
