Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
It was ok.
The way it’s all short almost random short scenes was an interesting way to do it. Felt like an improv night telling if the story almost
Cillian most definitely earned that Oscar.
US government have really always been bastards haven’t they? Build you up to take you down. Bastards.

Probably everything has been said before, but I finally watched this. Magnificent movie. A candidate for the best movie of the 2020s.

It wasn't a top 10 movie if 2023. It isn't a top tier Nolan film. In no universe is it in the conversation for best film of the decade, in my opinion.

I think it was a great theater experience more so than a good movie

It’s actually my highest rated Nolan. I’ve always appreciated his work, but felt like he couldn’t quite reach greatmess. TDK was to predictable, Interstellar too flawed, Inception nearly there, but just missing that final stardust of magic.

I did see it at home. Have seen hundreds of movies in a cinema, but none the past two years.

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
Maybe not on a phone, but you can certainly enjoy a movie more the second time you see it, and also have a top experience from home. Like I said I’ve been plenty of times to the cinema, and it can be fun, but I think it’s a bit of a myth that it elevates a movie. Of course depending on a few factors, like not seeing it on your phone.

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
It "elevates a movie" because you're putting your whole attention on it without distractions, and also because the screen is much larger than most home setups. So really you could approximate the effect at home under certain conditions

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
There’s plenty of distractions in a cinema. People eating, talking or going to the toilet. Maybe you don’t want to leave for the toilet, but you feel you have to pee. Your loved one holding your hand, or a friend laughing at a scene next to you. If you buy popcorn or candy, you have to hold it, or store it on a dark floor. If you are sitting in an uncomfortable way, you can’t move. Also the movie screen is bigger, but further away. The worst are 3D movies, when you wear glasses irl.

Anders how serious are you with that post
"Having to hold popcorn"? That's a distraction? Come on man

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
Just the tip of the iceberg. Been annoyed/distracted in the cinema many times.

Re: Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER (2023)
Well, to each their own, anyway. I go to the cinema at least once a week and don't really find things like "my loved one holding my hand" or "having to hold candy" annoying distractions. Find it much harder to properly watch movies at home
