I never liked Johnny Guitar, but I hear some of what that song was going for in this one, done a LOT better. It's probably mostly the "plinky riff" referenced above.

Everyone keeps calling this a highlight and I’d love to enjoy a live version. But I cringe at the “don’t react, respond” bit.

Fair. Especially because it expresses the opposite sentiment of the song title.
