How fun too that they’re playing your gear and Josh’s gear. Were there some specific items that wound up being used a lot?

A guy named Alexander Dumble made the amps. He was a very strange guy who unfortunately passed away in 2022. He made Stevie Ray Vaughan’s amps and countless others. He would refuse to build them for a lot of people but for whatever reason, he agreed to make four for me. They’re all ‘50s Fender mods: a Vibrolux, a Champ, a Deluxe and a High Powered Tweed Twin. Jeff played through a Fender Bassman.

Wotman has some deep pockets, those amps cost a fortune.

In 2012, Vintage Guitar magazine described the Dumble Overdrive Special as the most valuable in the product line, with used amplifiers fetching between $70,000 and $150,000. Other examples have sold for more.

Dumble died a few years ago now and only built three or four amps per year for people like Santana or whatever, so was young, 20-something Wotman dropping a few hundred K on amps before he was a hotshot producer? Fucking yikes. Lunacy when you could buy vintage Fender tweed amps for a fraction of that (or handmade replicas by Victoria, Lazy J, Clark etc. for a further fraction).

I said it earlier in the thread. No idea what his folks do/did for a living, but, brotherman was born and raised in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. Annual property taxes there could easily run you the cost of a new home elsewhere.

Then again, he was playing in California Breed with Glenn Hughes & Jason Bonham by 2013. They didn't stay together long, though, and I don't think they did much touring, so, I'm not sure how successful that ultimately was.

My vinyl of this looks to still be sitting (somewhere) in the US, with 'Shipment ready for UPS' which has been there since the begining of the month. No way this thing gets here by the release date.

On a different note - the movie expereince thing is tonight and instead of going to that - I'm taking my kids to see a Madagascar stage show/musical

Pretty much...I mean, I don't begrudge the guy his well-earned success for a single second, but, it's essentially the equivalent of Tony Khan getting the money to start AEW from his Dad, and then going out and telling people that he's grinding, on his own, to build a small start-up from the ground up.

The origin of ‘Waiting for Stevie’ is almost too good to be true, in that you and Ed were literally waiting hours for him to show up at your studio to record his parts for a song on Earthling.

We were sitting around with guitars and waiting, and I said, I have this idea. Check it out. He says, that is so fucking weird, because I’ve had this riff for literally years — since albums and albums and albums and albums ago. He showed it to me, and it was almost exactly the same. So, they both kind of melded into each other. We presented that to everyone in the first week, and they all wrote their parts and how the sections would move. It really only became a thing because the thing I showed Ed reminded him of something he’d written that was very similar.

This ain't bad.
