the thing I was really looking forward to hearing (and don't on the final album) is this:

What did they do with the layered vocal intro to DM?
The one they used as intro to the instrumental version.

I like it a lot, and thought it would end up on the album, did they really just scrap it?
I did, too. Strange as it might seem, I think it added 0.25 stars or so for me in the custom version someone here made.
they also got rid of that first ambient Twitter clip we heard
They got rid of it on the Evans mix or altogether?

I thought I heard it the other day at the record store.
altogether
It opens Upper Hand

there were two Twitter clips before DM came out, one with an ambient few seconds; it had an organ on it, and was lovely, but it isn't there; the other with someone playing a vinyl of what is the album intro (included); both different
dang, that’s a bummer. I mean, I don’t think it’ll change my opinion, but it was cool to think they’d do something similar to the Gigaton intro.
they do! it's just not... that

there is a Giga style intro, Billiards ball smash, first song
ah, I’m following now.

by far the worst thing about this album is that Ed is still friends with Sean "sure plays a mean Billiards Ball" Penn

Dark Matter (the song) is still doing well on rock radio:

Updated on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 (reflecting charts dated April 20, 2024):

"Dark Matter" (9 weeks)

Alternative Airplay (18-10-10-10-9-7-7-6-6)
Mainstream Rock Airplay (17-6-3-1-1-1-1-4-5)
Rock & Alternative Airplay (6-1-2-1-1-2-3-3-3)
Hot Hard Rock Songs (3-1-2-2-2-3-2-3-5)
Canada Rock (10-3-2-1-1-1-1-1-2)
Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) (39-26-22-19-20-19-21-23)

Wonder when they'll release a second single (for radio)?

Isn't it just the organ at the beginning of Upper Hand isolated? Go back and listen to Upper Hand with headphones

gotta find a computer that can take blu-ray first, then there's probably all sorts of copy protection on it. if someone can get around that then surely its possible.
Pinning at least some of my hopes on someone doing the hard yards on this.

Back from the theatre show. Really enjoyed the album on the whole. Minus the Mike shredding, a few of the slower and quieter numbers felt like they could be on an early Counting Crows record.

Won’t Tell, Upper Hand, Wreckage and Setting Sun were my favourites. Need a bit more time with the rockers to form a view. Overall, a great first impression of the album as a whole. The choices for singles were bizarre, DM is fine but middle of the road on the record and Running is comfortably the worst song here - and maybe in their catalogue. My

that's super cool

I really liked that "setting sun" appearing twice
i noticed the repeated lyric but not the musical cue. thats neat!

Listened to the whole thing again. It's not the album I thought it was going to be. I wish it had a couple more songs.
