Ah yes. Here in the Carolinas they call them Palmetto bugs, I guess to fool everyone into thinking they aren't cockroaches. But they are gigantic, fly, and it doesn't matter how clean your house is or what kind of pest control you have, you will inevitably be sitting at home watching TV in the evening and see one crawling on the wall or ceiling, just waiting to drop down on you.BurtReynolds wrote:Snakes and spiders don't bother me but I've had too many traumatizing experiences with Louisiana cockroaches growing up, so they fill me with dread.
They're gigantic, they're everywhere, and they fly.

O, I got a zoo, I got a menagerie, inside my ribs, under my bony head, under my red-valve heart—and I got something else: it is a man-child heart, a woman-child heart: it is a father and mother and lover: it came from God-Knows-Where: it is going to God-Knows-Where—For I am the keeper of the zoo: I say yes and no: I sing and kill and work: I am a pal of the world: I came from the wilderness.
