Wreckage is very nice. I don’t understand why anyone thinks it would be a great single, though. There is no place for it on radio. We saw that with “Long Way,” which everyone here decried as a single and seemed to hate. They seem like tracks from the same album to me.

Yeah working from home has it's perks...and this sounds great on headphones. Lots of bits and bobs going on underneath.Val wrote:Sounds very good.Arthur Morgan wrote:Wreckage is on Apple music
And the vocals are a standout.
I’m hearing nuanced things in his delivery which couldn’t be heard in the bootleg

Wreckage is so much better than Long Way. This will get plays on rock radio AND lighter rock radio/adult contemporary stations. Dark Matter didn't really hit the latter too much.daft twat wrote:Wreckage is very nice. I don’t understand why anyone thinks it would be a great single, though. There is no place for it on radio. There has been some discussion in the ‘Wreckage’ thread that the song may be about Chris. A lot of the lyrics last night reminded me of him. I wonder if Andy was to 10 as Chris is to DM.

Why would Ten be about Andy? Ed never knew him at all.Arthur Morgan wrote:There has been some discussion in the ‘Wreckage’ thread that the song may be about Chris. A lot of the lyrics last night reminded me of him. I wonder if Andy was to 10 as Chris is to DM.

The band have spoken about how Ten was an outpouring of emotion in the wake of Andy’s death. At least for Stone and Jeff. Ten would have been cathartic to them in the way this album would be cathartic to the whole band, I’d imagine.wease wrote:Why would Ten be about Andy? Indeed, it's a very safe easy to listen to PJ song, the bridge is nice, nothing top tier like everyone is making it out to be here.Ello Sailor wrote:Wreckage is okay. It's the safe side of Pearl Jam that I
no longer care for. Sounds like a Tom Petty tune, but Petty was far more interesting than Ed will ever be, so...
Hoping for more rawk songs. My enjoyment of the album will likely depend on how often Matt and Jeff were allowed to BUST OUT. Ed can go have a shit as far as I'm concerned.

As opposed to Gigaton which was the album recorded most recently after Cornell’s death?Arthur Morgan wrote:The band have spoken about how Ten was an outpouring of emotion in the wake of Andy’s death. Ed himself said after Gigaton that he had not dealt with Chris’ passing. Just speculating. There seems to be a lot of loss happening, so probably not just Chris, but it had to be cathartic experience for the band to hear what Ed was writing about.wease wrote:As opposed to Gigaton which was the album recorded most recently after Cornell’s death?Arthur Morgan wrote:The band have spoken about how Ten was an outpouring of emotion in the wake of Andy’s death. For the record, I like Wreckage and Long Way, but Wreckage is definitely more single-worthy.

It's a good song, needs to drop a verse though, bit too long.

I don't know what this song is about, but neither do I think grieving stops after one album cycle and you just think "right, time to move on, new subject"; especially not Edwease wrote:You’re REALLY wanting this to have happened.Arthur Morgan wrote:Ed himself said after Gigaton that he had not dealt with Chris’ passing.
