And again, in summary, I have no idea if Eddie was having personal problems, divorce/marital issues, or if he was just experimenting with that perspective. I have no idea what inspired him to write these songs. Or if he was processing other losses through the idea of divorce/lost love. Or who knows, maybe somebody else in the band had problems that he was relating to. But he is definitely evoking it on this album in many songs. A shocking amount compared to past albums which is the only reason I wondered if he was going through something of some sort. This is NOT the same Eddie from Sirens, that's for sure.

The ONLY song that really evokes those emotions of pride/contentment/happiness/affirming love is his song to his children.

My guess is that “home straight” refers to that last stretch of the race track just before the finish line which normally has no turns and runs in a straight line.

Anyone else hear a skip on the word “sun” in the second line? I hear it on the iTunes version and also the YouTube. But no one else mentioned so I’m hoping I’m just going crazy.

Also I really love the song.

During the outro, when Ed sings that last "combing through the wreckage" line at the very very end, he goes a bit lower and slower and just nails it.

Great, great tune.
Production nerds are never happy...it's part of the job description.
 We're never happy once a benchmark has been established. It's really hard to go from Riot Act to whatever this is...

I was listening to U2's War this morning and thought "I bet this sounded AMAZING, until Achtung Baby came out..."
I love Until the End of the World on that one.
:bammer: Our college radio station played Seconds and I had to just keep listening to the whole album after that. Such a GREAT sounding record.
Man, "Seconds" is so good. I never think of it when I think of my favorite U2 songs but it's totally on the shortlist.

This is such a nice track! I do hear the Petty influence. I also feel a little Daughter-like vibe from the track. Maybe it’s placement as track three too. Even with the Petty influence on this one this still sounds very much like Pearl Jam.

Yeah, having devoured the single on Spotify at least a few times, this is a real highlight. Pearl Jam really doing up the classic rock vibe.

A nice song? A nice song? Come it is force a stunning force of everything I needed in this album a 5 star tear jerker that turns that sadness somehow to joy. Leaving you to realize thing are how they will be. Ed's vocal at 350 Jeff is tight with Ed and Matt equally. Mike's guitar caresses Ed's pain doubling it but resolving it . Stone checks in looking over all. My God it is great. Oh and with all of that it's not the best song on here
