I am thinking it's not Dark Matter as we thing of in physics, but dark matter as when you say "it's a dark matter, but we need to talk about blank. I think this is rock opera.

As more lyrics come into focus, there's sofuckingmuch to be said about this album being titled "dark matter."

I don't do that sort of thing, but I'm sure stip's on it.

I'm still mostly thinking about Waiting for Stevie. I haven't really given the rest of the album the attention it deserves.

But review should be Saturday night at the latest.

I love this stupid band, and it's pretty great how much joy they still bring me after thirty years.

I'm also glad there's this little corner of the internet where I can share with others who love them just as much.

guilty as charged. DM and something special are fine in the context of the album. I like them just not as much as the rest of the songs. But i just can’t get in to Running. It feels like it belongs on a different album

I love hearing this from you. As one of the posters on this board who are mostly cold on PJ the last however many years, btu has such great taste in music that i admire, just melts my heart you are enjoying this.

And this is not uncommon from people on this board.

It’s frustrating that for all the greatness this album offers, they still allow for some of their worst tendencies: the speedy punker that’ll give Ed a stroke, the syrupy song that should’ve been on a solo album, no regard for production. Just be great. Is that so hard?

Yield had the same tropes, spritzy rocker in MFC, and syrupy song aka Wishlist and is unabashedly loved by the fans. So I dont see the problem in that.

Link to the Ed interview from today at time stamp 7:40 the interviewer states that she loves the album because it takes her on a journey. His response is long but at the 9:30 mark he specifically says the only trick to sequencing this record was “telling the story, if there is one”

So, he uses the word “story” in relation to the sequencing of the songs. That is fascinating to me! I am going to have to closely read the lyrics to see if there is a narrative.

SOF and Setting Sun both mention setting suns. So he is possibly connecting the first and last song by using the same imagery.


And of course I may just be reading way too far and am embarrassing myself.
