I remember reading when Ed was like "this is our best work" and thinking erghhh this hyperbolic shit again, but outside of just how strong the album is you can hear how positive the experience of recording it must have been.

They really are absolutely not out of touch if this it the work they feel proudest of. 5 porch jumps out of 5.

He made them Pearl Jam again!

Best since Yield which is what Watt somehow managed to get them to agree to do. I love Gigaton as it was a record for the time but I also think this is for other reasons. It’s next level. The band must be really proud of this. So happy for them.

After the first run through in the cinema I wouldn't have been able to describe the songs at all. The first listen is just an overwhelming flurry of sounds.

After the second listen it all started to fall into place for me.

Got to give

We can, we can believe that we are better
Together, you and me, yeah
Can take on anyone
Anyone
If you can see

Crying, laughing, dancing so much emotion in this part of the song.

Unbelievable what a band, what an album.

This album is up there, don’t know exactly how high but is up there.

Parting Ways foreshadowed Vedder's divorce from his first wife.

Can't help but feeling this album is doing the same.

While both could apply, the lyrics on this album sound much more like dealing with a suicide than a divorce.

the stream on Amazon Music (and I assume other platforms) is LIGHT YEARS better than even the good FLAC leaks were; just excellent, and much quieter

Yep. It’s clean in the good ways and is full of wonderful dynamic levels. This whole album is an unexpected gift!

Has anyone given the Atmos mix a proper listen on appropriate headphones or audio gear? I’m nervous to try it. The stereo mix is so beautiful and the Atmos mix of Running as a single was so garbled

Where does this album rank? I feel like that’s as impossible as figuring out who the greatest player of a sport is across eras of the game. This can’t open my ears the way Ten did. It can’t become the focus of my life like Vs. and Vitalogy were for 16 and 17 year old me.

I’ll say this: I did not love No Code when it came out. If No Code and Dark Matter both came out on the same day in 96, I would have chosen this album and burned a copy of it with Hail, Hail and Smile on it when the tech was available to me.

ranking is fun, but the most signicant thing may be whether or not a record makes you feel what you need to feel where you are right now

Yes. Dolby Atmos lossless AAC over AirPods Max.

It’s not garbled but there are clipping points that drive me mad, most notably on the intros for Waiting for Stevie. Otherwise the mix seems superiors to others I’ve listened to (Amazon and Tidal included). But I can’t make any mix judgements until my record and CD come Monday (again wtf 10C?)

sounds like I need to wait on an answer but where should i go for the best sounding version of this (and their music generally). i have airpods for my phone and quality headphones for my computer but not speaker set up.

i ordered the josh evans mix, have spotify, and just bought the album on itunes before oneway could warn me atmos was subscription only.

I want to upgrade and there are too many choices! where should i purchase or subscribe!
