Re: Got To Give
There's a country song hidden (and not too deeply) in this. Give me a little pedal steel playing that lead part. Some fiddle and some banjo. MMMMM!
Honestly, I'd fucking LOVE to hear The Chicks cover it.

Love the acoustic guitar in the back. Such great playing. Adds so much. Total Pete Townshedn.

Def Mellencamp vibes into The Who.RockPusher wrote:Beginning of song to me is straightup Mellencamp/Springsteen, but definitely goes into a very Who mode including the very appropriately used (glare at BO’B) pianoHomeboyd wrote:I don't hear the Who but I was never a big fan...this to me is a Springsteen song through and through. But I guess those are basically the US and UK equivalents. Heart on your sleeve rock.

Re: Got To Give
I'm wondering if excluding the lyrics was another intentional reference to "dark matter"? The lyrics are somewhat depressing, he's definitely singing about a dark subject matter, until the ending turns towards positivity. Looking at the booklet where there's a lot of black space where the rest of the lyrics should be... staring at the dark matter

That moment when Ed yells "go" right before the final solo. Tremendous.

Am I the only one who hears David Bowie’s Let’s Dance at the end of each verse?

Re: Got To Give
This song feels like this album’s In Hiding to me. “I’ll be the last one standing” feels so much like, “I swallowed my words…” I love it.
