Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
Gigaton has more snoozers that should've been Eddie solo tracks.
DM has a few too but they're of a higher quality overall.
Generally speaking, I need my Pearl Jam to stay rawkin', which they do more of on DM.

Despite what a number of you colossal weirdos say, Klinghoffer is the man. Boom is more of a meme.
Great trade tbh.

Setting Sun elevates this album to “the best thing since” category alone.
I can’t get through this album without being emotionally destroyed yet inspired and full of resolve. It’s a weird feeling because before I even knew a single lyric the second half of the song would make me feel the same way. Upon reflecting on the lyrics I feel that sense more strongly.
What a song. If this band ended their career on this high note I couldn’t fault them. It’s that good.

I definitely operate completely counter to recency biases. I never felt this way about Gigaton or LB or even Backspacer which slowly became on of my favorites. After Dance Gig falls off a cliff..

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
The last album that felt this way was Vitalogy.
Ten
Vitalogy
Yield
All at one time or another have been and taken turns at my number 1. Ten from lare 92 till the day Vitalogy came out then Vitalogy from its birth through about 2000 by then Yield which since then has dominated the number one spot since. Ten gets runs and has gotten more runs at 1 in the last 5 years. Dark Matter is 1 today.
I actually have been trying to deny this, because it seems absurd. Also maybe I need to quit thinking in terms like best favorite etc.. the catalog seem to maybe to expansive now for that.
