Re: Wreckage
I’m with stip. Maybe if there was a little more going on in the playing during the outtro, it would help a bit.
When I first played this song for my wife (who likes the band and this song), she said “someday I hope I find music that I enjoy as much as you enjoy hearing Pearl Jam play 2 1/2 minutes of song for 5 1/2 minutes.”

The crowd will be the background vocals in concerts. Call and response time. I don’t mind.

I mean that is a pretty good description of one of my favorite forms of Pearl Jam.

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Re: Wreckage
that last verse is really great - so much vulnerable discovery in Eddie's voice, and the quiet way it resolves. so good. Eddie is really on point throughout this song
visited by thoughts
and not just in the night
that i no longer give a fuck
who is wrong and who's right
this game of winner takes all
and all means nothing left
spoils go to the victor
and the other left for dead

"The mistakes we all make
And perfectly repeat
Chains are made, by DNA refusing
refusing to release"
Ow wow. This touches me on so many personal levels. Totally in line with a general theme of who are you, where do you come from, what do you want your legacy to be, what do you want to pass on to your daughters, what do you want to avoid that is so hard to do. 200% where I am right now.
I love this song so much!

I’m confused didn’t Ed just say on Stern he hadn’t attached Wreckage to Trump?

Background vocals should be female. Complete the soft rock/Fleetwood vibe.stip wrote:the ending goes on maybe just a little too long at the end (not in love with the background ‘combing through the wreckage’ part. but otherwise this song is incredible. it gets better every time i hear it

He did and it’s not. The source of this article is the same idiotic UK article that started this. I have feeling there was miscommunication about which song the UK writer was asking about.Arthur Morgan wrote:https://variety.com/2024/music/global/pearl-jam-eddie-vedder-donald-trump-wreckage-dark-matter-1235977926/amp/

How are there two one-star ratings for this? Baffling.

I think there is some small part this could use to make it slightly weirder or more varried but I will probably still give it 5 stars

Re: Wreckage
This album cycle, the UK gave us the worst listening party attendee feedback ever and a misrepresented article about Trump/Wreckage that was picked up by about 1,000 news sources. Thanks, UK.BoltofLightning wrote:He did and it’s not. The source of this article is the same idiotic UK article that started this.
