My bottom 3 are pretty clearly Dark Matter, Running and Something Special, but i only occasionally skip the first two mostly because im more familiar with them and just in a rush to get to the "newer" stuff. But i can easily see this album settling in with no skipped songs.

To be clear i definitely dont hate on those songs...its more a case that the other 8 are for me varying degrees of amazing.Bammer wrote:I love those ones!Thurman Murman wrote:My bottom 3 are pretty clearly Dark Matter, Running and Something Special, but i only occasionally skip the first two mostly because im more familiar with them and just in a rush to get to the "newer" stuff. my criteria for any great Pearl Jam album has always been that even though I like some more than others, I never feel like skipping any because the whole listening experience is incomplete if I do; Dark Matter passes this test with flying colours

Re: So which song(s) on Dark Matter do you regularly skip?
I am not a big need to listen to an album cover to cover. I tend to find the things I like on a new album quickly and focus there. With this album my favorite 1-2 punch is Got to Give and Setting Sun, so I usually start with those two and then run the album, usually skip Something Special but if not in a hurry I will listen to it.
Most skipped:
Something Special
React Respond (not my vibe on Ed's performance but the music is great)
Won't Tell (I have to be in the right mood for that one)

I think the album's pretty excellent up through Stevie; other than Dark Matter, I've been finding I listen to that pretty much straight through. I think the songs in the final third, particularly the Running/Special/Got to Give run, don't really speak to me, so I've found myself mostly listening up through Stevie.

I’ll skip something special and upper hand
It’s not that I don’t like them, I just want to hear other songs right now

Yeah. I get what Ed was going for. It's undeniably sweet. But I don't want to listen to it.wease wrote:Something Special. I can’t get into it like the others.

I usually skip all of them and go straight to Running then Something Special, then I listen to those two on repeat.
