You can make it happen, Jorge. You owe it to yourself to take this trip. Think of the wonderful people you will meet. Also (and I can't stress this enough) you'll be carving your way through America by rail. No billboards. No gas stations. Just wheels and locomotion.

thank youHiggs wrote:Not a problem-o. I will not be having showers on any of the trains that I travel on, but will however ensure to livestream at least 5 mins of each journey, and, in honour of #'sUP, will ensure that during those 5 minutes I take a wander to the men's room and see what there is to be seen about the urinal at that time.
Can't see how that could be an issue for any reasonable, not-hung-up-about-his-sexual-orientation, man.

Re: Traveling the US by train (wish we had a travel subforum
My whole cross-country idea has been deemed too impractical for this year, but I still hope to do it someday.
This time I will merely take the Silver Star from New York City to Miami, FL. 32 hours. The new sleeper cars are supposed to be really nice. It won't be quite the 4-day experience I wanted but I am still looking forward to it, and seeing Moynihan Train Hall for the first time.

I trained through Italy once and let’s not get all caught up in the “beautiful countryside” fairy tale. It’s a bunch of industrial blight just like any other place that’s been raped by capitalism.
