Trag talked a lotta hot shit in the run up to this record...say what you will, but, the man walked it like he talked it.

Brought it fucking HARD with this remaster.

No over-hype, but, Jamily's in for a treat.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Is it just me or did this wombat stuff get way better after about waiting for stevie? The first four seemed to have something odd like scrapes or noise in the back ground. I'm on setting sun now and it gone.

Edit: I went back and started over....there must have been some very odd thing going on with my headphone sync on Bluetooth because I went back and started over and the odd sounds and distant parts are gone now....could my hearing have adjusted that much in one listening? Need to go back and listen to the LP now and see what I notice.

The Wombat Waiting for Stevie is definitely a highlight. Somehow, they made that track even better.

I don't necessarily like the remixes more than the original mix(es?), but I do love how they highlight details.

That Matt/Ed only version of WFS is a great listen just for how much of a late era Ed showcase it is

Just here to say... Trag, I'm still looking forward to hearing your version because the wombat thing is a little overhyped imo

I listened to the full Wombat thing today, and yeah, noticed some stuff but wasn’t convinced it was clearly better.

I don't think it's possible to rescue this album to the point where I'd actively enjoy listening to it, at least not without getting right back to the unprocessed tracks and starting the mix again from scratch. Even then, there's a good chance the core sounds captured by Watt just aren't to my taste, particularly Matt's drums.

Like S/T, I think I might end up enjoying the live versions of these tunes more. On the other hand, I think it's a much weaker collection of songs than on that record - and they're not performing at that level anymore either.

I think I figured out that my problem was just Bluetooth. I have some Sony WX-1000XM4s(Listening on a M1 Macbook Pro) that are probably getting a bit long in the tooth, but have been really good and when I try to listen to wombat with them through Bluetooth I get a really strange effect to the point of me wondering why people are making a big deal out of this thing. But I plugged the line in to them and it sounds awesome.

My airpod pros don't seem to have this problem.

Anyone know what kind of quality youtube pushes through? And is it possible there is a higher bitrate available for this stuff?

I listened to the Wombat remix and it was OK, and I'm grateful for the work that was put in.

I didn't find anything too spectacular in comparison to the official mix. The isolated extras were more fun.

I'm waiting for Trag's remix, looking forward to it.

Trag is doing great work. I was lucky enough to listen to what he’s done so far, and to my non audiophile ears, it is a huge improvement. Excited for the final mix

Patiently waiting for Trag's high fidelity version.

Lately I've really wanted to listen to the new album but not wanting to be bombarded by constant loudness has won out and I haven't been listening to the new album.

Maybe I'll check out some of Wombat's more unique mixes today.
AI artifacts aren't the most enticing sales pitch though.

YouTube uses the opus codec. Opus is supposed to be transparent at or a little below 160kbps (I can't immediately find the answer) where it's perceptually indistinguishable from the lossless source.
Last I checked YouTube delivers 160kbps opus and there are ways to rip it directly (without another conversion).
NewPipe on Android makes it easy to download just the audio stream of a YouTube video. Can't recommend it enough.

Would still be nice if Wombat shared flac/wav files. Maybe you just have to ask them.
