Ha, just asked about this in the main thread and see that I am not alone in hearing echoes of "Thunderfingers" (just learned about that nickname)

Re: Got To Give
I love this song, I even gave it 5 stars.
But man. The more I listen the more I realize how bad the production is (TRAG YOU WERE RIGHT!!)
Why is it so loud? The verses, especially the first one, the instrumental is just SO loud and blaring in an unpleasant way that just doesn't work and gives the song nowhere to go. The vibe is wrong. It like oversaturates itself and takes away from the song which is otherwise so good T_T
I think they wrote an amazing song, I still love it, but the production is holding it back from its true greatness definitely....how could they do this

Re: Got To Give
This is the one in my head today. Listening on Spotify with proper settings, I find that worst case I just need to turn the volume down a little. I do look forward to future remastered versions though (including Trag's).

Lol Iiterally had this song playing with good headphones and was thinking how awesome it sounded. Love everything about this one including how it’s produced. Amazing. Different strokes for different folks I guess!mikejasond wrote:I love this song, I even gave it 5 stars.

I love how '50s rock 'n roll the whole "I saw the doctor..." portion of the verse is; that's a cliché I can get behind

That acoustic remix is great sure makes it seem like it was a ready made ed song the band colored up afterwards

I absolutely LOVE that second verse. His super passionate "And I can't stand it, it's no way to live" is even better.Ms Harmless wrote:I love how '50s rock 'n roll the whole "I saw the doctor..." portion of the verse is; that's a cliché I can get behind

Totally, but not in a bad way. They really added to it and elevated it, and I think because they understood what Ed was going for and applied their personal flair to ‘The Who’ style Ed was going for. Jeff is the best example, sounding like Entwistle.Kalevi wrote:That acoustic remix is great sure makes it seem like it was a ready made ed song the band colored up afterwards

Eddie even recognizes Jeff's playing in Got to give in the last part of Simmons' interview.
Very cool.

Re: Got To Give
Jeff's bassline is awesome
Love the broken engine lifted up on blocks line
The Pete Townshend bridge
The Outro
This will be a killer live
Hopefully they debut it Vancouver Night 2

this seems like it would be the hardest song on the record to sing, he says not really knowing how singing works

It does have that spot-on young Roger Daltrey moment. You kind of have to be a scream king to do that.stip wrote:this seems like it would be the hardest song on the record to sing, he says not really knowing how singing works

This has to be the most WHO-like song they have ever done. And they have done it a couple of times

Is it the only Pearl Jam song that use the word doctor ?joostone wrote:This has to be the most WHO-like song they have ever done. And they have done it a couple of times
Reminds me of the lyrics to The Real Me, but from an adult point of view.
