Nice review, slow.

DM hasn't hit me as hard as most of you but I'm glad you're all feeling it so much. One thing that strikes me is that their initial instincts are often quite strong. Let's hope they get into the studio again soon and also look for another mixing engineer.

Great take, stip

Strat, watch the video. There was a pause, followed by much laughing over the smoking.
Maybe he just gave up cigarettes, but still smokes... other things

Which ones, and do they sound the same? I got the Galaxy Red 10C version. A member of my Jamily got the crystal clear version.

I'd hoped he'd quit smoking years ago, and he said as much in the Simmons interview, then there was the laughter and the assumed wink/nod that he really hadn't quit.

He's a functional alcoholic and smokes, but he's still here, when many others aren't, so there's that.

That's probably the best looking variant out there, right? The New York orange splatter one also looks awesome.
On the sound side though... at least some Discogs users are favoring the 10c Red Marble one, which was pressed at RTI, while most variants were pressed at GZ Media.

"Functional alcoholic" seems like a massive stretch.

I agree its a stretch.
Some peeps are pretty quick to throw "alcoholic" at anything.

He's basically never not with a drink in hand (Corona). Maybe not a functional alcoholic, but he definitely enjoys alcohol very consistently. I was just sharing in reference to the smoking topic.

We all want him to be healthy, around for as long as possible, and able to sing, but he can make his own choices.

At risk of kicking the "best song/favorite song" hornets nest, I wouldn't call Won't Tell the best song on this album, but so far I think it's the one I want to hear most often.

Me too 100%. I love the "can you feel...can you heal..." singing at the end.

I got the yellow marble one on RSD, and the red marble one from 10C. Once it drops down to like $25, I'll buy the black vinyl at Target.

the narrative of the album seems similar to Vs., maybe more grown up with "something special" replacing "leash"

Ive noticed this...well not the 'narrative' so much as the way the tracks are organized

Start off with two blistering, tense, and unhappy rockers (Go/Animal vs Scared of Fear/React Respond)
Then slow down with some poignant, pretty, catchy but kinda dark ballad (Daughter vs Wreckage)
Then a fun throwaway rocker (Glorified G vs Dark Matter)
Catchy mid-tempo story-telling rocker (Dissident vs Won't Tell)
Then a slow and atmospheric tune (WMA vs Upper Hand)
(No match for Blood lol)
Then the most triumphant anthem of the album (Rearviewmirror vs Waiting for Stevie)
Then another fun rocker (Rats vs Running)
Then slow down for a sappy yet bittersweet song (Elderly Woman vs Something Special)
Then an emotional catharsis (Leash vs Got to Give)
Finally another poignant, contemplative, and slightly sad ending song (Indifference vs Setting Sun)

I mean it's not an exact match obviously but I did notice that it reminded me a bit of how Vs was laid out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Watt was using Vs as a template for tracking. I think you're on to something.
