I can't believe people would assume you were excited just because you ran 3 miles to see the movie.dimejinky99 wrote:B wrote:I saw it in theaters on opening night.
I saw the 3D reissue in theaters.
I don't need any more theater views of this one.
I came from what turned out to be my last REM show and ran into town straight into the midnight screening for the first showing of this. I was a sweaty panting mess and people either side of me thought it was I was excited. I was but it was from leaving a concert and then running three miles into the city![]()

I like phantom. I’m excited to see it on the big screen again.

It took my Dad and we started the tradition of seeing the films opening night.
I clearly remember seeing the pod racing scene and of course Duel of The Fates.
MY Dad and I loved the movie and I remember as we left past the line up of people waiting for the midnight screening my Dad smiling, shaking everyones hand and saying "its good, its so good".
I of course brought this on video, and my VCR had a temperamental EJECT button so this one stayed in rotation for months on end. My wife still reminds me about how many times she has seen this film.
Good memories
That’s cool:)

Some outlet tried to say this last week about the last Jedi.
They were corrected. Disney doesn’t release viewing numbers at all so someone is making this up

The film has been rehabilitated so completely that, according to multiple sources, “The Phantom Menace” is now the most viewed “Star Wars” movie on the streamer worldwide.
That’s the original article.

Rehabilitated?
They lost me there. These are just printing words to fill the void I think.
But if people are enjoying it fair play to em.

The prequels got a lot of criticism when they arrived, but have gotten a lasting and renewed fandom. Not really news that.

Most certainly. And I’m enjoying people enjoying them.
Except AOTC. Fuck that. That film doesn’t exist in my head canon.

I think AOTC has the worst scenes in the trilogy, but also plenty of good ones.

I'd argue their plot elements have come to be appreciated but the movies themselves are mostly dogshit. There are certainly a handful of standout scenes/sequences.Anders wrote:The prequels got a lot of criticism when they arrived, but have gotten a lasting and renewed fandom. Not really news that.

ATOC and ROTS are B tier episodes of the Clone Wars.

I watched this a couple days ago for the first time in decades and -- the film is a putrid mess, of course, probably the worst of them all -- but I was surprised that its biggest problem was NOT Jar-Jar. In fact I... I kind of enjoyed Jar Jar

Actually, let me walk that back a bit. Jar Jar definitely gets annoying as shit. But I think the way the Gungans talk is really funny. At one point they're waiting to fight a droid army and one of them nervously exclaims "ouch time." At another point someone tells Jar Jar "you in big doodoo this time!" So silly and stupid. I can't hate it.

That sounds like you enjoyed it mostly though.
It’s kinda charming. It and revenge of the sith are good fun.
