He does and doesn't. It can be rare nowadays for him to sing the higher notes in tune, and then sustain them with stability (no wavering), and strength (rather than yelling into the mic or wavering). The way he sings out of the bridge had all three, and that's kind of rare in his upper register now, at least compared to other clips where he doesn't sound near that good. It does not seem like the limitations he seemed to have on the Vancouver clips. The way his voice used to ring....the range in which it does this has seemingly become constrained, or at least I thought so until that video

But I think maybe Vancouver he wasn't warmed up yet? He seems way more vocally 'on' for the Portland show. He sounds great in some clips, especially for modern Eddie.

More a testament to how good the entire record is.
that anyone makes this claim means this song is underrated!

I think that's it.

If he was being autotune corrected he wouldn't be straining as hard because he wouldn't need to be perfect. He was wrestling this song the whole time, and he won.

i've listened to this song almost every day for the last two weeks or whatever its been. there's been like 4 or 5 different vocal parts that have randomly made me say "holy shit!"

and then mccready to end it with the vocals overtop :heartbeat:

There are so many wonderful little nuances to this or that phrase all the way through. And, of course, the "glory note" in the bridge.

So many moments. I still think the first lyric and held 'love' coming out of the bridge is my favorite, though

My dark horse pick is how "and escape the blame" softens and sinks when you're primed to expect that phrase to rise above the lines leading up to it.

Would have to take an act of faith

I like this song, but I think it’s my least favorite on the album.

yeah I love that too, it's archetypal PJ -- the fall where you expect a rise -- and it's been missing from their recent music; we are (mostly) SO back!

I feel like if Chris Cornell were still with us he would be featured in this song. I’ve always thought of this song as I Got Shit if it were on Yield but at the same time I get the early 90s feel the more I listen to it.

I've learned the opening lick and general chords on guitar and it's fun playing along with the song.
