I thought I already had this, but went looking for it the other day - and turns out somehow this hadn't made it into my collection

I love The Beths, Rangi! Saw them a couple of months ago, they're ace.

The Beths, Office Dog, Soaked Oats, Nadia Reid - there's a lot of terrific music being made in your neck of the woods these days.

Hope you can find a copy of SFTD soon. :)

I'm so turned off lately by the price of records. May go back to CDs. Just a couple of years ago the places I went would have sales for used records, discounts for locals, etc. Now even shitty condition used records are overpriced if they are a popular artist. I guess I'm glad for the local store owners, but at least in this area there was not anything subtle to their crossing into taking advantage of the vinyl movement. Maybe I'll trade bodysnatcher or strat a bunch of my first edition 70's rock stuff I got from my dad for some CDs.

ruddo is right, I miss the 2010-2015 era so much, that was really the sweet spot. I think the last three times I’ve walked into a record store, I’ve walked out empty-handed.

FWIW, I’m still finding some pretty good deals, just in weird places. I’ve got like 10 recent releases in my Amazon cart at a time, and maybe once every other week something will drop to a reasonable price. For example, for some reason, the new Eels record (out next month) dropped to $12.49 for one day (msrp is something like $25) so I preordered that. Just gotta wait and watch.

TBH I’m actually relieved sometimes when something is a super-limited release, because then it feels worth the price tag. Like I’ll take the $80 hit or whatever for a Pearl Jam vault knowing that there will never be another way to get it. But I still don’t own Dark Matter because I’ve seen copies of Gigaton for $10.

2009 was an amazing year for getting some very cool vinyls at a good price. I spent $200 at Generation Records in NY and got so many great stuff.

I love that place..spent a lot of money there..they had a great record store cat that would either follow you around if you went downstairs or just sit on the top of a box of vinyl and give you that stare

yeah, and downstairs they got great stuff too...They were so cool, here its a good story...so its 2009, im in NY buying records in different places and i got Jeff Buckley´s Grace on cd and it comes with a dvd because its the legacy edition. I got it, come home and open the damn thing almost a year after. There is no dvd. I send a fbook message to them telling them about it and they reply do you have the receipt? and i did!! because it was like a badge of honor at the time ¨ey i got all this stuff¨ so i send a picture and they sent the dvd to fucking Argentina! beautiful.

The Beths are great. I had to lookup Office Dog on name alone, and I like them now too.

Haven't purchased a vinyl since 'Dark Matter'. Found a couple used this past weekend that I'm looking forward to giving a spin.

David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights - Bobbie's a girl
The Walkmen - Lisbon
