Should Pearl Jam record with Andrew Watt again ??
Thoughts ??
I’m very happy with Dark Matter. Especially when u consider it took 2 weeks to record. I’d be more than Happy for the boys to hit The studio again and with Watt.
My ideal scenario for the next album would be
Producer : Andrew Watt
Engineer: Trag

Sure, why not. At this point, I'm glad for them to get into the studio and hammer out new music in whatever way feels most productive to them.
Dark Matter may be the first purely opportunistic Pearl Jam record -- the songs came to be as a result of the recording opportunity, not the other way around. Being able to sense when the atmosphere feels ripe for creating, and then striking while the iron is hot, is a muse that I'm happy to see them chase regardless of who's in the producer's chair.

Wotman and his engineers are fine. The mixing engineer def needs a change.

The answer is yes.
Dark Matter is the best thing they've done in 25 years
Watt obviously has sparked something in the band and there's no reason why this partnership shouldn't continue

I'd take another record like this so sure.
However, I also dream of them recording with Rick Rubin. He got a great record out of The Strokes (by making them act like a band again--write songs together, jam together, etc.) It seems like that's what happened with Dark Matter so maybe the secret is just writing as a band. But I still think Rubin could get a fantastic late-career album out of the band.

For those who say yes, would your answer change if it came to light that Eddie’s hipster sombrero was a gift from Wotman?

I don't care who produced it, or mixed it, or was the caterer.
I don't care if Eddie shaves his head, let's it grow, gets implants, wears a sombrero
I just don't care.
I'm getting 30+ years of my favorite band and I have no complaints.

Don't care who does Watt, I'm just looking for quicker turnarounds on the output before it gets too late.
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

i want more albums from them, so i say yes of course. I also want Josh Evans to be involved in the mix and mastering maybe. I would love the band to work with Rick Rubin too.

Not necessarily, though, I do think that they work more effectively when they don't overthink things, and, let's be honest, they don't have too many more seven year waits left between albums.spike wrote:a quantity over quality guy
