I'm guessing Brett negotiated he didn't want to mix more than two a week, which honestly seems very reasonable.
I had no idea Brett was still mixing for them.

Exactly. When the crowds stop responding, Ed will stop calling. I’m already doing my part.

Meanwhile, it’s been maybe since the self-titled album that I leaned in with my listening ear for the new songs. I loved Gigaton, but I approached that album as a studio piece and never really worried how it would translate live. These songs by and large are excellent at least in the first show.

Man, this show is really, really good. I thought everything post-2006 was a big drop down, but this is an amazing show. Played very well, clean, Ed's voice in fine form.

The run at the end of that tour was pretty fabulous. I attended the shows at the Garden that follow this and they were both great, the 21st being my favorite show I have attended from any band.

Yep, I DO remember the MSG shows being very good. I might hit 1-2 of the European leg shows to see how they hold up. But there is gold in that post-2006 stretch, Hartford 2008 is another incredible set and performance. But I'm not sure I'll ever come around to the 2013- 2018 Lightning Bolt never-ending party tour stretch. I did think the Gigaton shows were much better, for several reasons. First, at least when I'm not there I prefer the shorter shows. Second, less Lightning Bolt, more Gigaton. Third, I don't know if it was the addition of Josh K and/or mix but the sound is more robust, layered.

That one I knew because IWT. One of those shows (like Champaign 2003, another one I was at) where you truly were surprised by each song. Of course Champaign was a whole other level, that show even crushed Chicago 1998.

I was at Champaign 2003 too. I am not usually a “you wouldn’t believe the energy” kind of guy but I don’t know how else to explain that show — impossible to describe to someone who wasn’t there. No other PJ show I’ve attended felt like that.

I was impressed by how good the band sounded at Vancouver 1.

Vancouver 2, not so hot. Ed sounds out of gas and the band don’t seem as dialed in either.

There is a truly impressive IEM mix of the May 13 Sacramento show that is "out there." It was recorded and mixed by hoserama, currently available at TTD. If you would like a wetransfer link, please PM me.
