Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:The verse is cool but the chorus is pretty awful, with that lame and weedy guitar lead in between the vocal lines that sounds out of key. It bothers me every time I hear it.

It's very amateurish and probably the weakest song from the Ten *and* VS sessions.

In my opinion.
It's certainly not better than anything that ended up on Ten....probably not better than anything on Vs. either, but i do think its better than at least a couple of the "b-sides" from those sessions.

The 2009 Auckland take (which I learned about from RM's 2018 Definitive Live compilations) has one of my all time favorite EV performances.
Starting at 1:48 is a "brings world peace" moment and I don't care how ridiculous that sounds lol

Insane to me how little love this song gets. This board loves the hidden gems.

Recorded version doesn't really live up to the potential this song has. That Auckland version is really strong, and I think Wrigley 2013 is another really good one.

So which is the best ? The acoustic one with the low vocals or the electric lost dogs version ?

They’re both really good. Depends on the day. I’m trying to think of another song of theirs that has 2 drastically different studio versions each as good as these.

Such a forgettable song.

When lost dogs came out, this track alone was enough to cure me of the fantasy that there might be a cache of forgotten music from the early days, waiting for future release.

The acoustic version makes me think it could work as a bluegrass song.

This is the one that if I got it at a show, I could forgive all other shitty songs they play at that show. My ultimate white whale.

And since they’ve already done it at Wrigley, odds are against me getting it this year.

There are very few Pearl Jam songs that just don't resonate with me at all, but this is one of them.

I don't think it's "bad" or anything, but I'm pretty indifferent to it.

why is this listed on the band's official site as having debuted live in boston in 1994 when the song to which they're referring is a shorter improv that sounds nothing like the actual song?
