Man, those shoes have seen some milage t2b. I only wish I could run without inserts, unfortunately plantar fasciitis means that I need to always have good support.
Great to hear your wife is thinking marathons. I'm sure she'll become addicted to them before too long.
Edit: just realised I'm a page behind.

I've been to the gym three of the last four days with a heavy day yesterday. Looking forward to a rest day today.

I run in shoes until they fall to pieces. They only have about 600 miles on them. They're not even broken in yet.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:Man, those shoes have seen some milage t2b.
I put about 1,500 miles on these:

I can wear shoes a long time without them starting to bother me, I usually buy new when they start looking shabby or the color fades/gets dirty though. Style is important, friend.turned2black wrote:I run in shoes until they fall to pieces. They only have about 600 miles on them. They're not even broken in yet.Sgt. There's no room for style in ultrarunning. It's all just a mixture of spit, shit and blood after 50 miles.verb_to_trust wrote:I can wear shoes a long time without them starting to bother me, I usually buy new when they start looking shabby or the color fades/gets dirty though. Re: The Work-Out Thread
10 miles in 69 minutes
Ended up taking a day off from running on Tuesday because I had far too much to drink the night before. But it was for good reason as today marks 10 weeks until my race and alcohol is now off the table. I needed to booze it up one final time.
I hit the canal this morning feeling a bit heavy and I never seemed to find my stride. Kinda felt awkward the entire time, but I have put in enough mileage over the past month or so that I can pretty much sleepwalk a 70-minute 10-miler. 35 out. 34 back with the world's worst finishing kick. Blah.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Time to kick it into gear. After a summer with lots of cardio and lots of drinking, time to get in real shape. Back to the gym three times a week and swimming four or five times a week on top of my daily biking. Two of those bike rides are now hour plus mtn bike rides at night. Hopefully by Christmas time I'll be looking good.
Mtn biking at night is sick. It takes so much concentration and the risk factor is off the charts. But the feeling when I get home is amazing. Soaked with sweat, a little mud, always a little blood and a smile from ear to ear.

Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Nothing gets me moving faster than the sight (and sometimes taste) of my own blood.surfndestroy wrote:Time to kick it into gear.
