I mean I guess letting watt play is kind of fun but what is up with Ed that he is relinquishing guitar duties to other people? I actually love the way Ed plays guitar and it brings a certain flavor to pj.

I have three theories, not mutually exclusive

1. Eddie is trying to justify Josh's inclusion by giving him more to do (that's not a snarky comment)
2. Perhaps Eddie is getting some joint stiffness that makes it harder to play
3. Singing/vocal control now requires more concentration.

He sounds pretty great in everything I've heard, so in aggregate I am okay with this, but I hope everything is okay

The hat thing is really really bothering me. No idea why. Someone has to get to the bottom of this. Preferably without the usage of puns. TIA.

in one of the recent interviews, ed did mention some tendonitis. he is no spring chicken.. and rvm is a bit of a chore to play and sing.

and generally in recent years, he's been playing less and less. before gigaton, how many ed-written songs did he not play on live? even within older songs, he's been laying out in more parts than in the past and just singing.

I think a lot of it is number 2. He mentioned bad tennis elbow in the BS interview. May not be permanent, but he’s likely dealing with something.

Re RVM last night, I believe Watt joined and played, and you only need so many guitars.

It seems they've come to their senses and don't need to do an acoustic cover when an Ed track will suffice. That spot could be Gone, Thumbing, Soon Forget, The End, JB, FD, CtG.
I'd rather hear Maybe It's Time, Keep Me in Your Heart or Throw Your Arms over any of those

And especially over Just Breathe, Gone or Future Days

Thumbing My Way would make my wife's year though so I'd deal with that

Got Some and Just Breathe are good songs. They don't seem out of place in this set.

In regards to the tennis elbow, I’m currently dealing with that right now, and it’s a motherfucker. So if that’s the case for him, totally understandable.

I don’t. Caused by driving, apparently. And every person I’ve talked to that’s had it got it the same way. It should be called driver’s elbow.

I was at the show last night. It was awesome.

A couple of responses to the speculation/ comments on Ed

Ed's Guitar Playing
- Ed is very physical - moving and jumping and weaving and running through the show. Feels like he is a lot more mobile than he was in 2022. And he is interacting with the audience in ways that he just can't with the guitar.

So, while it might be a tennis elbow thing - it didn't seem like it. He was moving and grooving.

Ed's hair/ hat situation
- He took his hat off on stage at least 5 or 6 times last night. It is brief - mainly to just wipe sweat off of his forehead - but you could easily see his hairline if you were up front.
- I haven't watched any of the videos from last night but there are likely shots of his hair line as a result
- His hairline looked very receded - much more than last fall - but it was still there.
- And it looks like he hasn't sprung for the hairplugs yet. :)

didn't ed have some injury a while ago that stopped him from playing guitar for a while? maybe there's something residual from that going on?

I recall when he did River Cross for that all-star COVID benefit his hands were shaking like there was some health issue.
