I do love the Ed plays the guitar, but I really enjoyed what Watt brought to RVM last night. Also, was Matt taking it to the next level in the RVM end jam or has been doing that for a while?

Ed played a ton of excellent guitar across both nights. Nothing looked off.
I am pretty sure they probably just asked Watt to pick any song he wanted to play with the band and that's the one he chose.
Not much more than that.

You’re basing that on what, exactly?gardenparty wrote: I am pretty sure they probably just asked Watt to pick any song he wanted to play with the band and that's the one he chose.

i think it has to do with location in the set
which lends itself to a type of song
and a good moment for someone like watt to step in and play on a tune

RVM would have to be one of the most demanding PJ songs for Ed to play. It’s pretty long and has that repeated (down-stroked?) riff coming up again and again.
Notable that it’s the only time they’ve played the song this year so far.
His injury can’t be that debilitating though as he’s still played on plenty of other songs, including Lukin etc (which is only short, of course).
