DM songs are so great live. Only gripe so far is Jeff’s bass in React Respond. Not sure if it’s the 8 or 12 string. I remember it being too hot & grating at the show, still sounds like ass on the boot.

Thanks for the heads up!upperdecker wrote:There is a truly impressive IEM mix of the May 13 Sacramento show that is "out there." It was recorded and mixed by hoserama, currently available at TTD. If you would like a wetransfer link, please PM me.
You just know I'm heading straight for that trainwreck version of Faithfull, I wonder if they'll drop it from the official boot.

Wow, really good version of Garden from Sacramento. Dare I say 1994-esque?

Another amazing show I picked at random, Calgary 2011. Ed is emotional about REM calling it quits earlier in the day. These setlists, and the tightness of the band (no 2009 slop here), really is taking me by surprise.

Re: Which bootleg are you listening to?
Was listening to the bootleg of Las Vegas 1 from May 16, 2024
Honestly pretty disappointed. I saw the clips of Portland and hoped Vancouver they were still just warming up.
They did not sound great here, IMO. There's a flat feeling I get from modern pearl jam where every song blends together and they all sound just slightly flat and off and same-y and it drives me crazy....
I will say this, "Maybe It's Time" is a song I've never heard before, but it was by far the highlight for me, Eddie sounded amazing here and reminded me he has a magical voice. I wish he would do more songs like this. This one I loved.
Scared of Fear, React/Respond, and Running, Setting Sun also sounded very good.
Wreckage did not....they really seem to struggle with this one live capturing the feel.
Songs I love like Black, Breath, Hard to Imagine, sounded just...flat and I was not enjoying them
Surprisingly, Breakerfall, a song I hate, sounded very good.
So it was really up and down.

Mike, most of those songs are just tuned down. The "flatness" is just how it sounds to the ears that have heard the standard tuning hundreds of times.

Cool set list. Eight different albums in the first eight songs.track11 wrote:Another amazing show I picked at random, Calgary 2011. Ed is emotional about REM calling it quits earlier in the day. These setlists, and the tightness of the band (no 2009 slop here), really is taking me by surprise.

Re: Which bootleg are you listening to?
i know it's absolutely zero of our business and Eddie owes us nothing, but it still makes me so sad that one of the greatest voices ever known to man has been marred by years of cigarettes T_T. It's like somebody drawing graffiti on the Mona Lisa.WtOB? wrote:yeah the second show is basically a write-off.Birds in Hell wrote:Ed struggling pretty hard vocally at the Vegas shows.

He could just write low-key songs to fit his old husky voice instead of trying to write anthems

Up until Portland it was a really solid tour start but it's all downhill from there. Tomorrow I'll give LA1 a spin, let's hope that it's better than the Vegas shows...

Re: Which bootleg are you listening to?
Listening to Vegas 2 now. Vegas 1 really disappointed me so I hope Vegas 2 is better.....
I still feel like while Eddie is struggling more than I've heard him struggle before, it's not just him...the whole band IMO has trouble creating and inhabiting the 'feel' of each song like they used to, at least to my ears. It could be just that Eddie could always make it sound great so I didn't notice before. To be fair I think this started ten years ago, but it's gotten a bit worse IMO....Maybe Eddie is the difference, but I think Matt Cameron has gotten lazier in the drum parts too
